[Termes IGN] Royaume-UniRésumé : (auteur) Utility networks comprise a fundamental part of our complex urban systems and the integration of digital representations of these networks across multiple spatial scales can be used to help address priority challenges. Deteriorating water utility infrastructure and low routing redundancy result in network fragility and thus supply outages when assets fail. Water distribution network configurations can be optimised for higher resilience but digital representations of the networks used for simulations and analyses are not integrated with the finer scale networks inside buildings. This integration is hindered by differences in conceptualisation and semantics employed by the relevant data standards. We suggest that the geospatial and geometric data contained in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and water distribution network (WDN) models can be used for their integration; and that this supports the use cases of optimising dynamic network partitioning, reducing the risk of underground utility strikes and planning for future network configurations with higher topological redundancy. In this study, we develop and demonstrate the application of a weight-based spatial algorithm for inferring water network connections between urban-scale WDNs and BIM models, showing that spatial data can be used in the absence of complete or consistent semantic representations. We suggest that the method has potential for transferability to infrastructure for other utility resources (such as waste water, electricity and gas) and make recommendations such as standardising the representation of connection points between disjoint utility network models and extending the normal practical spatial remit of BIM MEP modelling to encompass the space between buildings and WDNs. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) This article suggests a new approach to automatic building footprint modeling using exclusively airborne LiDAR data. The first part of the suggested approach is the filtering of the building point cloud using the bias of the Z‐coordinate histogram. This operation aims to detect the points of roof class from the building point cloud. Hence, eight rules for histogram interpretation are suggested. The second part of the suggested approach is the roof modeling algorithm. It starts by detecting the roof planes and calculating their adjacency matrix. Hence, the roof plane boundaries are classified into four categories: (1) outer boundary; (2) inner plane boundaries; (3) roof detail boundaries; and (4) boundaries related to the missing planes. Finally, the junction relationships of roof plane boundaries are analyzed for detecting the roof vertices. With regard to the resulting accuracy quantification, the average values of the correctness and the completeness indices are employed in both approaches. In the filtering algorithm, their values are respectively equal to 97.5 and 98.6%, whereas they are equal to 94.0 and 94.0% in the modeling approach. These results reflect the high efficacy of the suggested approach. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) The generalization of building footprints acts as the basis of multi-scale mapping. Most of the previous studies focus on the generalization of regular building clusters within a wide neighbourhood, but only few has concerned about the generalization of cluttered building clusters within the narrow space such as urban village. The buildings in urban villages show special characteristics in terms of individual properties and group properties, and thus their map generalization processes are often limited. This study proposes a framework to generalize the cluttered building clusters that allows for multi-scale mapping. It first adopts a heuristic method to group adjacent buildings based on the Delaunay triangulation model and then aggregates and simplifies each building group separately. Given that the aggregated buildings in urban villages often show cluttered alignments, our method further trims the jagged boundaries of building footprints by extracting the gap space between neighbouring buildings from the Delaunay triangulation model. Note de contenu : Introduction
