Remote sensing and image processing communities are working on different pan-sharpening methods capable of taking advantage of MS and Pan images. Each remote sensing system has its own advantages and disadvantages, leading to the question ‘Which pan-sharpening method should be used for which type of imagery?’ The aim of this research is to investigate the pan-sharpening performance of PLÉIADES-1A images. For this purpose, pan-sharpened images were generated using PCA, IHS and Brovey Transform which are the most popular pan-sharpening methods. Then, the pan-sharpened images were evaluated quantitatively using Correlation Coefficient, Root Mean Square Error, Relative Average Spectral Error, Spectral Angle Mapper and Erreur Relative Globale Adimensionnelle de Synthése. In addition, pan-sharpened images were evaluated qualitatively by taking object availability and completeness into consideration. [Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) The recent explosive publications of big data studies have well documented the rise of big data and its ongoing prevalence. Different types of “big data” have emerged and have greatly enriched spatial information sciences and related fields in terms of breadth and granularity. Studies that were difficult to conduct in the past time due to data availability can now be carried out. However, big data brings lots of “big errors” in data quality and data usage, which cannot be used as a substitute for sound research design and solid theories. We indicated and summarized the problems faced by current big data studies with regard to data collection, processing and analysis: inauthentic data collection, information incompleteness and noise of big data, unrepresentativeness, consistency and reliability, and ethical issues. Cases of empirical studies are provided as evidences for each problem. We propose that big data research should closely follow good scientific practice to provide reliable and scientific “stories”, as well as explore and develop techniques and methods to mitigate or rectify those ‘big-errors’ brought by big data. [Termes IGN] surface du solRésumé : (Auteur) Faraday rotation is an important issue for remote sensing of parameters such as soil moisture and ocean salinity, which are best done at low microwave frequency (e.g., L-band). Modern instruments such as the radiometer on the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite and the Aquarius radiometers include polarimetric radiometer channels specifically to implement a correction for Faraday rotation. This works well over ocean, but it is known that over inhomogeneous scenes, such as a land/water mixture, significant errors can occur. This is a particularly important issue for the newest L-band sensor in space, the radiometer on the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) satellite, where the goal is remote sensing over land (soil moisture) and where the conical scan induces rapid variation in Faraday rotation. Analysis is presented here of the issues associated with retrieving Faraday rotation using the SMAP geometry and antenna pattern. It is shown that, in addition to scenes with a mixture of land and water, scenes with significant vegetation canopy are also associated with large errors in the retrieved Faraday rotation. Examples from the SMAP radiometer support the analysis. [Termes IGN] source d'erreurRésumé : (auteur) The ZiYuan-3 satellite (ZY-3) was China’s first civilian stereo mapping satellite designed to meet the 1:50 000 scale mapping requirements. We analyzed main error sources influencing the geometric accuracy of the ZY-3 images, and the error propagation rules of these error sources in image production. Accuracy estimation models of ZY-3 images without ground control points (GCPs) were deduced and the theoretical geometric accuracy of ZY-3 images was obtained. Without GCPs, 556 ZY-3 panchromatic nadir images covering 3,500,000 km2 of the Chinese mid-west region and 12 ZY-3 stereo image pairs covering 14,000 km2 around Taiyuan of China were used for planar and vertical accuracy verification, respectively. The experimental results confirmed the correctness of the accuracy estimation model for ZY-3 images. The accuracy results obtained through the model and experiment showed that without GCPs, the geometric accuracy of the ZY-3 images satisfied the Chinese stereo mapping requirements for 1:50 000 scale topographic maps Numéro de notice : A2015-992 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : 10.14358/PERS.81.12.927 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.14358/PERS.81.12.927 Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=80273

We employed the IPCC concept of vulnerability, which comprises exposure to climate, sensitivity and the adaptive capacity, to identify factors that influence flooding. Eleven factors were compiled in a spatial database using geographical information system. The relative weight of each factor was converted into a fuzzy membership value, which was integrated to obtain a flood vulnerability index using five fuzzy combination operators (fuzzy AND, fuzzy OR, fuzzy algebraic sum, fuzzy algebraic product and fuzzy gamma). Overall, the fuzzy models were quite effective tools for flood vulnerability assessment. Of the five fuzzy combination operators, the fuzzy AND operator obtained the highest prediction accuracy of 88.68%. This study achieved better flood vulnerability assessments by employing and comparing fuzzy combination operators.
