[Termes IGN] solideRésumé : (Auteur) Building extraction based on preestablished models has been recognized as a promising idea for acquiring 3D data for buildings from aerial images. This paper proposes a novel building extraction method developed from the concept of fitting CSG (Constructive Solid Geometry) primitives to aerial images. To be practicable, this method adopts a semiautomatic procedure, carrying out highlevel tasks (building detection, model selection, and attribution) interactively by the operator and performing optimal modelimage fitting automatically with a leastsquares fitting algorithm. Buildings, represented by CSG models, can be reconstructed part by part after fitting each parameterized CSG primitive to the edge pixels of aerial images. Reconstructed building parts can then be combined using CSG Boolean set operators. Consequently, a building is represented by a CSG tree in which each node links two branches of combined parts. This paper demonstrates ten examples of building extraction from aerial photos taken at a scale of 1:5,000 and scanned at a pixel size of 25 1.um. All of the tests were performed in the prototypal system implemented in a CADbased environment cooperated with a number of specially designed programs. The process time for each primitive is about 20 seconds and the successful rate of model-image fitting was about 90 percent. Evaluated with some check points, the fitting accuracy was about 0,3 m horizontally and 1 m vertically. The test results are encouraging and promote the theory of modelbased building extraction. [Termes IGN] rivièreRésumé : (Auteur) The manual production of vector maps from digital imagery can be a time consuming and costly process. Developing tools to automate this task for specific features, such as roads, has become an important research topic. The purpose of this paper was to present a technique for the semi-automatic extraction of multiple pixel width river features appearing in high resolution satellite imagery. This was accomplished using a two stage, multi resolution procedure. Initial river extraction was performed on low resolution (SPOT multispectral 20 m) imagery. The results from this low resolution extraction were then refined on higher resolution (KFA 1000. panchromatic. 5m) imagery to produce a detailed outline of the channel banks. To perform low resolution extraction a cost surface was generated to represent the combined local evidence of the presence of a river feature. The local evidence of a river was evaluated based on the results of a number of simple operators. Then, with user specified start and end points for the network, rivers were extracted by performing a least cost path search across this surface using the A* algorithm. The low resolution results were transferred to the high resolution imagery as closed contours which provided an estimate of the channel banks. These contours were then fit to the channel banks using the dynamic contours (or snakes) technique. [Termes IGN] image multibandeRésumé : (Auteur) We have developed an automated feature detection/classification system, called GENetic Imagery Exploitation (GENIE), which has been designed to generate image processing pipelines for a variety of feature detection/classification tasks. GENIE is a hybrid evolutionary algorithm that addresses the general problem of finding features of interest in multispectral remotely-sensed images. We describe our system in detail together with experiments involving comparisons of GENIE with several conventional supervised classification techniques, for a number of classification tasks using multispectral remotely sensed imagery. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) The automation of feature extraction from digital imagery is the most challenging task facing those working today in photogrammetry research and development. Unsolved so far is the fully automatic and reliable detection and reconstruction of objects. There are solutions available for the automation of specific tasks under certain restrictions, but all methods show deficiencies when faced with poor image quality. Occlusions and shadows are factors which frequently prevent high success rates. One current practice involves a semiautomatic approach, a human operator being employed for the extremely difficult interpretation tasks. The authors present an overview of inJECT, a semiautomatic building extraction system. This system, developed by INPHO in cooperation with the Institute of Photogrammetry at the University of Bonn, offers a set of building primitives covering the most common basic house shapes. Automated modules assist the human operator in the measuring phase. The system does not require stereo viewing and operators need only a short course of training. [Termes IGN] routeRésumé : (Auteur) In order to help people working in the urban areas, we are concerned about extracting road networks in from high-resolution satellite images. However due to the urban landscape complexity, the development of reliable and robust algorithms to extract information from city images is difficult. An existing street extraction method is applied on high-resolution images from the IKONOS satellite. Results of this method are discussed. Then, a methodology is proposed which aims at semi-automatically extracting all types of urban street networks and at managing their topology.
