[Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) We propose an approach for building facade interpretation ranging from uncalibrated wide-baseline image sequences to the extraction of windows. The approach comprises several novel features, such as determination of the facade planes by robust least squares matching, learning of implicit shape models for objects, particularly windows, and the determination of the latter by means of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) employing an abstraction hierarchy generated via mathematical morphology. Results for the fully automatic approach show its potential and shortcomings. [Termes IGN] transformation rapide de FourierRésumé : (Auteur) Fusion of optical and synthetic aperture radar data has been attempted in the present study for mapping of various lithologic units over a part of the Singhbhum Shear Zone (SSZ) and its surroundings. ERS-2 SAR data over the study area has been enhanced using Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) based filtering approach, and also using Frost filtering technique. Both the enhanced SAR imagery have been then separately fused with histogram equalized IRS-1C LISS III image using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique. Later, Feature-oriented Principal Components Selection (FPCS) technique has been applied to generate False Color Composite (FCC) images, from which corresponding geological maps have been prepared. Finally, GIS techniques have been successfully used for change detection analysis in the lithological interpretation between the published geological map and the fusion based geological maps. In general, there is good agreement between these maps over a large portion of the study area. Based on the change detection studies, few areas could be identified which need attention for further detailed ground-based geological studies. [Termes IGN] structure géologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, Landsat images are used in the mapping of transverse fault lineaments in Zagros, Iran, and the origin of the fault lineaments as the result of basement reactivation faults is examined using geomagnetic maps. The area under investigation is located in the SE part of the Zagros Fold Belt (ZFB) and was affected by influence of concealed faults, or fault lineaments, during the late Alpine Zagros orogeny. Image interpretation of geological structures such as curvilinear geometry of fold hinges, en echelon pattern of surficial lineaments and younger folds, and breached salt plugs, has been used to map the fault lineaments. Two sets of strike-lateral transverse fault lineaments have been detected. The first set, NW-trending, was identified by right lateral curved geometry of the main fold hinges, generation of younger folds, and en echelon pattern of surficial lineaments. The second set, NE-trending, was verified based on left lateral displacement of the structures and alignment of salt plugs pierced anticline hinges. The placement of Upper Proterozoic salt plugs on the surface along the fault lineaments, together with their correlation with the magnetic-driven lineaments, implies that the fault lineaments have a basement origin. The trend of these fault lineaments can be correlated with the trend of basement faults in the northern margin of the Arabian plate. The key result of this study is that the fault lineaments identified by integration of remotely sensed data and geomagnetic maps are generated as first order wrench faults by reactivation of the N–S-trending basement faults. The thick Hormoz Salt formations overlaying the basement do not allow the fault lineaments to emerge at the surface. Therefore, they can be mapped through regional remote sensing and their basement origin can only be recognized by their correlation with magnetic faults. It is also concluded that satellite imagery can greatly contribute to the structural mapping of the ZFB and is therefore a valuable aid for oil and gas exploration in analogous tectonic environments. [Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (Auteur) For some tropical regions, remote sensing of land cover yields unacceptable results, particularly as the number of land cover classes increases. This research explores the utility of incorporating domain knowledge and multiple algorithms into land cover classifications via a rule-based algorithm for a series of satellite images. The proposed technique integrates the fundamental, knowledge-based interpretation elements of remote sensing without sacrificing the ease and consistency of automated, algorithm-based processing. Compared with results from a traditional maximum likelihood algorithm, classification accuracy was improved substantially for each of the six land cover classes and all three years in the image series. Use of domain knowledge proved effective in accurately classifying problematic tropical land covers, such as tropical deciduous forest and seasonal wetlands. Results also suggest that ancillary data may be most useful in the classification of historic images, where the greatest improvement was observed relative to results from maximum likelihood. The cost of incorporating contextual knowledge and extensive spatial data sets may be justified, since results from the proposed technique suggest a considerable improvement in accuracy may be achieved. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) An automated approach to identifying landslides using a combination of high-resolution satellite imagery and digital elevation derivatives is offered as an alternative to aerial photographic interpretation. Previous research has demonstrated that per pixel spectral response patterns are ineffective in discriminating mass movements. This technique utilizes image segmentation and digital elevation data in order to identify mass movements based not only on their reflectance but also on their shape properties and their geomorphic context. Dividing the classification by process into debris slides, debris flows, and rock slides makes the method far more useful than methods that group all mass movements together. A hierarchical classification scheme is utilized to eliminate areas that are not of interest and to identify areas where mass movements are probable. A supervised classification is then conducted using spectral, shape, and textural properties to identify failures that were greater than 1 ha in area. The resulting accuracy was 90 percent for debris slides, 60 percent for debris flows, and 80 percent for rock slides.
