[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) Humans increasingly rely on GPS-enabled mobile maps to navigate novel environments. However, this reliance can negatively affect spatial learning, which can be detrimental even for expert navigators such as search and rescue personnel. Landmark visualization has been shown to improve spatial learning in general populations by facilitating object identification between the map and the environment. How landmark visualization supports expert users’ spatial learning during map-assisted navigation is still an open research question. We thus conducted a real-world study with wayfinding experts in an unknown residential neighborhood. We aimed to assess how two different landmark visualization styles (abstract 2D vs. realistic 3D buildings) would affect experts’ spatial learning in a map-assisted navigation task during an emergency scenario. Using a between-subjects design, we asked Swiss military personnel to follow a given route using a mobile map, and to identify five task-relevant landmarks along the route. We recorded experts’ gaze behavior while navigating and examined their spatial learning after the navigation task. We found that experts’ spatial learning improved when they focused their visual attention on the environment, but the direction of attention between the map and the environment was not affected by the landmark visualization style. Further, there was no difference in spatial learning between the 2D and 3D groups. Contrary to previous research with general populations, this study suggests that the landmark visualization style does not enhance expert navigators’ navigation or spatial learning abilities, thus highlighting the need for population-specific mobile map design solutions. However, there is no angkot routes map, and the officially published route information is textual, thus hard to get the transit information quickly. Meanwhile, people with colour vision impairment have a different perception of colour compared to people with normal vision. It can affect them in making decisions when reading a map. The purpose of this study is to design a colourblind-friendly Surabaya City angkot route map prototype and to conduct a cartographic evaluation of the map by considering the colour vision impairment factor. The map was created using ArcGIS and CorelDRAW then checked by using several software packages to ensure that the colours are colourblind-friendly then tested on people with normal vision and people with colour vision impairment. Fifteen out of 15 respondents with normal vision and 11 out of 11 respondents with colour vision impairment could distinguish the colours of the route. All respondents mentioned that symbols and some texts were too small. It shows that the colours on the map can accommodate both groups, but they have difficulty reading the route map because the size of the symbols and the text is too small. [Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (auteur) This article presents the development of a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) workflow that harvests high-volume and high-frequency near real-time data from a public General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) and calculates metrics for the assessment of on-time and route speed performance for a public transit system. The approach is applied to near real-time and static GTFS data collected over a 9-month period for the City of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The workflow uses two Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), one to harvest the data and the other to process observations in parallel using Python and the ArcGIS API libraries. A Web GIS application is described that queries data from MongoDB to visualize the performance results in spatiotemporal form. The purpose of the workflow and Web GIS application is to provide actionable information to transit planners to improve public transportation systems. The data management and analysis workflow is transferable to similar GTFS data from other cities. [Termes IGN] secours d'urgenceRésumé : (auteur) Increased occurrence of road traffic crashes in Kano metropolis has resulted in a steady loss of lives, injuries, and increased people's risk exposure. This study looked into the emergency response to road traffic crashes in Kano, with a view to improving efficiency by developing linkages and synergy between Emergency Healthcare Facilities (EHCF), ambulances, and crash hotspots. The geographical location and attributes of the major EHCF, crash hotspots along highway intersections, and the two existent ambulances at the Kano State Fire Service (KSFS) and Federal Road Safety Corp head offices (FRSC) were obtained using GPS surveying. Road traffic network data (vector format) was digitized from satellite image, from which two major road classes (highways and minor roads) were identified, as well as their respective speed limits. The length and speed constraints were used to calculate time distances. Nearest Neighbor and Network (closest facility, shortest route, and location-allocation) analyses were carried out. Location-allocation analysis was to determine based on defined criteria the best locations to allocate EHCF or ambulance for optimum coverage. The results demonstrated that EHCF, ambulances, and crash places have different distribution patterns with almost no linkages. Closest ambulance facility analysis revealed the FRSC ambulance takes 9.41 minutes to arrive to crash spot 18 (Maiduguri Road, following NNPC) and 7.52 minutes to arrive at AKTH, the nearest EHCF. Comparatively, getting to Court road incident scene (spot 16) and IRPH as the closest EHCF takes about 3 times the time it takes to get to spot 18 and 4 times the time it takes to get to AKTH. This means that practically almost all victims in the city suffocate before reaching to the hospital. This signifies that, in cases of demand for CPR at the incident scene, there are higher likelihood of dying as it is expected to be provided within the first four minutes after the crash. Based on a maximum of 4 minutes impedance cutoff from all directions towards the occurrences areas, location-allocation analysis found eight new locations to maximize coverage and improve efficiency. It is concluded that current road traffic crash emergency response system has been determined to be ineffective. As a result, more ambulances should be strategically placed to improve emergency response times. A travers un cas d’étude, nous avons illustré que ce réseau est représenté de différentes manières à travers différents outils de recommandation d’itinéraires.
