[Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) The latest developments in the field of digital humanities have increasingly enabled the construction of large data sets which can be easily accessed and used. These data sets often contain indirect spatial information, such as historical addresses. Historical geocoding is the process of transforming indirect spatial information into direct locations which can be placed on a map, thus allowing for spatial analysis and cross-referencing. There are many geocoders that work efficiently for current addresses. However, these do not tackle temporal information, and usually follow a strict hierarchy (country, city, street, house number, etc.) which is difficult—if not impossible—to use with historical data. Historical data is filled with uncertainty (pertaining to temporal, textual, and positional accuracy, as well as to the reliability of historical sources) which can neither be ignored nor entirely resolved. Our open source, open data, and extensible solution for geocoding is based on extracting a large number of simple gazetteers composed of geohistorical objects, from historical maps. Geocoding a historical address becomes the process of finding one or several geohistorical objects in the gazetteers which best match the historical address searched by the user. The matching criteria are customisable, weighted, and include several dimensions (fuzzy string, fuzzy temporal, level of detail, positional accuracy). Since our goal is to facilitate historical work, we also put forward web-based user interfaces which help geocode (one address or batch mode) and display results over current or historical maps. Geocoded results can then be checked and edited collaboratively (no source is modified). The system was tested on the city of Paris, France, for the 19th and 20th centuries. It showed high response rates and worked quickly enough to be used interactively. [Termes IGN] jeu de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new approach, called band subset selection (BSS)-based hyperspectral anomaly detection (AD), which selects multiple bands simultaneously as a band subset rather than selecting multiple bands one at a time as the tradition band selection (BS) does, referred to as sequential multiple BS (SQMBS). Its idea is to first use virtual dimensionality (VD) to determine the number of multiple bands, nBS needed to be selected as a band subset and then develop two iterative process, sequential BSS (SQ-BSS) algorithm and successive BSS (SC-BSS) algorithm to find an optimal band subset numerically among all possible nBS combinations out of the full band set. In order to terminate the search process the averaged least-squares error (ALSE) and 3-D receiver operating characteristic (3D ROC) curves are used as stopping criteria to evaluate performance relative to AD using the full band set. Experimental results demonstrate that BSS generally performs better background suppression while maintaining target detection capability compared to target detection using full band information. [Termes IGN] traitement parallèleRésumé : (Auteur) We developed a fast and effective bundle adjustment method for large-scale datasets. The preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) algorithm and GPU parallel computing technology are simultaneously applied to deal with large-scale data and to accelerate the bundle adjustment process. The whole bundle adjustment process is modified to enable parallel computing. The critical optimization on parallel task assignment and GPU memory usage are specified. The proposed method was tested using 10 datasets. The traditional Levenberg Marquardt (LM) method, advanced PCG method, Wu's method and the proposed GPU parallel computing method are all compared and analyzed. Preliminary results have shown that the proposed method can process a large-scale dataset with about 13,000 images in less than three minutes on a common computer with GPU device. The efficiency of the proposed method is about the same with Wu's method while the accuracy is better. [Termes IGN] teneur intégrée en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) [motivation] Within the COST Action ES1206 “Advanced Global Navigation Satellite Systems tropospheric products for monitoring severe weather events and climate” (GNSS4SWEC), there was a clear interest and need to homogenize Integrated Water Vapour (IWV) datasets retrieved from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations, by correcting (artificial) breakpoints due to e.g. instrumental changes. Based on the results of an inquiry, a homogenization activity was started within Working Group 3 (”Use of GNSS tropospheric products for climate monitoring”), targeting the following objectives: (i) select one or two long-term reference datasets, (ii) apply different homogenization algorithms on these reference datasets, and build up a list of commonly identified inhomogeneities based on statistical detection and metadata information, and (iii) come up with an homogenized version of the reference dataset that can be re-used to study climate trends and time variability by the entire community.
