[Termes IGN] vision monoculaireRésumé : (auteur) Most of the existing methods for 3D hand analysis based on RGB images mainly focus on estimating hand keypoints or poses, which cannot capture geometric details of the 3D hand shape. In this work, we propose a novel method to reconstruct a 3D hand mesh from a single monocular RGB image. Different from current parameter-based or pose-based methods, our proposed method directly estimates the 3D hand mesh based on graph convolution neural network (GCN). Our network consists of two modules: the hand localization and mask generation module, and the 3D hand mesh reconstruction module. The first module, which is a VGG16-based network, is applied to localize the hand region in the input image and generate the binary mask of the hand. The second module takes the high-order features from the first and uses a GCN-based network to estimate the coordinates of each vertex of the hand mesh and reconstruct the 3D hand shape. To achieve better accuracy, a novel loss based on the differential properties of the discrete mesh is proposed. We also use professional software to create a large synthetic dataset that contains both ground truth 3D hand meshes and poses for training. To handle the real-world data, we use the CycleGAN network to transform the data domain of real-world images to that of our synthesis dataset. We demonstrate that our method can produce accurate 3D hand mesh and achieve an efficient performance for real-time applications. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Integration of aerial and ground images has been proved as an efficient approach to enhance the surface reconstruction in urban environments. However, as the first step, the feature point matching between aerial and ground images is remarkably difficult, due to the large differences in viewpoint and illumination conditions. Previous studies based on geometry-aware image rectification have alleviated this problem, but the performance and convenience of this strategy are still limited by several flaws, e.g. quadratic image pairs, segregated extraction of descriptors and occlusions. To address these problems, we propose a novel approach: leveraging photogrammetric mesh models for aerial-ground image matching. The methods have linear time complexity with regard to the number of images. It explicitly handles low overlap using multi-view images. The proposed methods can be directly injected into off-the-shelf structure-from-motion (SFM) and multi-view stereo (MVS) solutions. First, aerial and ground images are reconstructed separately and initially co-registered through weak georeferencing data. Second, aerial models are rendered to the initial ground views, in which color, depth and normal images are obtained. Then, feature matching between synthesized and ground images are conducted through descriptor searching and geometry-constrained outlier removal. Finally, oriented 3D patches are formulated using the synthesized depth and normal images and the correspondences are propagated to the aerial views through patch-based matching. Experimental evaluations using five datasets reveal satisfactory performance of the proposed methods in aerial-ground image matching, which succeeds in all of the ten challenging pairs compared to only three for the second best. In addition, incorporation of existing SFM and MVS solutions enables more complete reconstruction results, with better internal stability. [Termes IGN] translationMots-clés libres : fissure dans du béton Résumé : (Auteur) This publication presents a procedure for the determination of all three components of crack opening vectors from stereoscopic image sequences of a specimen under load in civil engineering material testing. The method is based on analyzing stereoscopic image sequences of a concrete specimen with a surface texture, which is suitable for applying image matching techniques. Spatio-temporal correspondences are established by applying sub-pixel accuracy area based image matching techniques to a grid of surface points. Data acquisition starts at zero load. The load is stepwise or continuously increased during the experiment. The surface points are matched between the stereo images and tracked through each camera image sequence. As an intermediate result, we obtain a set of 3D object surface points for each epoch by spatial intersection. These 3D object points are triangulated into a mesh. Then, the mesh triangles are tested for deformations by transforming the triangles into 2D space and computing the norm of the 2D relative translation vector. Connected components of deformed triangles are determined and crack normals are computed. In the next step, the 3D relative translation vector can be derived for each deformed triangle. Defining local crack opening coordinate systems for the deformed triangles, the three components of the crack opening vectors can be computed. The method has been tested and validated in practical experiments. The technique is capable of quantitatively analyzing cracks with a width of less than one pixel in image space. For example, the constellations of various satellites are able to capture large amounts of remote sensing images with high spatial resolution as well as rich spectral information over the globe. The availability of such huge volume of data has opened the door to numerous applications and raised many challenges. Among these challenges, automatically generating accurate maps has become one of the most interesting and long-standing problems, since it is a crucial process for a wide range of applications in domains such as urban monitoring and management, precise agriculture, autonomous driving, and navigation. This thesis seeks for developing novel approaches to generate vector maps from remote sensing images. To this end, we split the task into two sub-stages. The former stage consists in generating raster maps from remote sensing images by performing pixel-wise classification using advanced deep learning techniques. The latter stage aims at converting raster maps to vector ones by leveraging computational geometry approaches. This thesis addresses the challenges that are commonly encountered within both stages. Although previous research has shown that convolutional neural networks (CNNs)are able to generate excellent maps when training data are representative for test data, their performance significantly drops when there exists a large distribution difference between training and test images. In the first stage of our pipeline, we mainly aim atvercoming limited generalization abilities of CNNs to perform large-scale classification. We also explore a way of leveraging multiple data sets collected at different times with annotations for separate classes to train CNNs that can generate maps for all the classes. In the second part, we propose a method that vectorizes raster maps to integrate them into geographic information systems applications, which completes our processing pipeline. Throughout this thesis, we experiment on a large number of very high resolution satellite and aerial images. Our experiments demonstrate robustness and scalability of the proposed methods.
