[Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Land cover maps are a pivotal element in a wide range of Earth Observation (EO) applications. However, annotating large datasets to develop supervised systems for remote sensing (RS) semantic segmentation is costly and time-consuming. Unsupervised Domain Adaption (UDA) could tackle these issues by adapting a model trained on a source domain, where labels are available, to a target domain, without annotations. UDA, while gaining importance in computer vision, is still under-investigated in RS. Thus, we propose a new lightweight model, GeoMultiTaskNet, based on two contributions: a GeoMultiTask module (GeoMT), which utilizes geographical coordinates to align the source and target domains, and a Dynamic Class Sampling (DCS) strategy, to adapt the semantic segmentation loss to the frequency of classes. This approach is the first to use geographical metadata for UDA in semantic segmentation. It reaches state-of-the-art performances (47,22% mIoU), reducing at the same time the number of parameters (33M), on a subset of the FLAIR dataset, a recently proposed dataset properly shaped for RS UDA, used for the first time ever for research scopes here. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The increase of recreational activities in the mountains and a growing amount of websites proposing geographic data, offer new opportunities for societal needs such as mountain rescue, biodiversity monitoring, outdoor activities. However, the main issue with the websites data is the lack of metadata that minimizes its reuse outside the community that produced the data. The goal of this paper is to study and generate quality and descriptive metadata using ISO standards. To this end, we propose a method based on a common vocabulary such as an ontology and a data matching process. The first one allows to associate to each type of feature from an available geographic dataset an ontology class that will facilitate data matching, reproducibility of results and minimize semantic heterogeneity. The second one allows to define matching links between features representing the same entity in the real world and compute quality indicators based on the validated links. Finally, at the end of this process, we are able to generate descriptive and quality metadata. By following ISO standards and using the QualityML dictionary for measures, the metadata is serialized to XML and can finally be published as open source. Our approach was applied to five different landmark datasets in the French Alps region. New insights were acquired regarding positional accuracy and semantic granularity. [Termes IGN] thesaurusRésumé : (auteur) Advances in linked geospatial data, recommender systems, and geographic information retrieval have led to urgent necessity to assess the overall semantic relatedness between keyword sets of geographic metadata. In this study, a new model is proposed for computing the semantic relatedness between arbitrary two keyword sets of geographic metadata stored in current global spatial data infrastructures. In this model, the overall semantic relatedness is derived by pairing these keywords that are found to be most relevant to each other and averaging their relatedness. To find the most relevant keywords across two keyword sets precisely, the keywords in the keyword set of geographic metadata are divided into three kinds: the thesaurus elements, the WordNet elements, and the statistical elements. The thesaurus-lexical relatedness measure (TLRM), the extended thesaurus-lexical relatedness measure (ETLRM), and the Longest Common Substring method are proposed to compute the semantic relatedness between two thesaurus elements, two WordNet elements, a thesaurus element, and a WordNet element and two statistical elements, respectively. A human data set – the geographic-metadata’s keyword set relatedness dataset, which was used to evaluate the precision of the semantic relatedness measures of keyword sets of geographic metadata, was created. The proposed method was evaluated against the human-generated relatedness judgments and was compared with the Jaccard method and Vector Space Model. The results demonstrated that the proposed method achieved a high correlation with human judgments and outperformed the existing methods. Finally, the proposed method was applied to quantitatively linked geospatial data.
