[Termes IGN] milieu urbainRésumé : (Auteur) Recent advancements in remote sensing technology have provided a plethora of very high spatial resolution images. From pixel-based processing designed for low spatial resolution data, image processing has shifted towards object-based analysis in order to adapt to the hyperspatial nature of currently available remote sensing data. However, standard object-based classifiers work with only object-level summary statistics of the reflectance values and do not sufficiently exploit within-object reflectance pattern. In this research, a novel approach of utilizing the object-level distribution of reflectance values is presented. A fuzzy Kolmogorov-Smirnov based classifier is proposed to provide an object-to-object matching of the empirical distribution of the reflectance values of each object and derive a fuzzy membership grade to each class. This object-based classifier is tested for urban objects recognition from WorldView-2 data. Results indicate at least 10 percent increase in overall classification accuracy using the proposed classifier in comparison to various popular object- and pixel-based classifiers. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Editeur) Urban navigation would greatly benefit from higher accuracy and more reliable positioning, especially in signal-challenged environments. Multiconstellation real-time kinematic RTK techniques can contribute to a solution, but typically they require expensive equipment. A team of research engineers tested a new algorithm on low-cost consumer GNSS receiver with promising results. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (Editeur) This article presents a smartphone-based system that uses the GNSS signal 'shadows' cast by buildings - usually the satellite-signal blocking bane of navigating in narrow urban canyons - to improve the accuracy of street-level positioning. The authors present the results of field tests that reveal dramatic reduction of positioning errors and improved availability. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we present an approach for automatic analysis of urban accessibility using 3D point clouds. Our approach is based on range images and it consists in two main steps: urban objects segmentation and curbs detection. Both of them are required for accessibility diagnosis and itinerary planning. Our method automatically segments facades and urban objects using two hypotheses: facades are the highest vertical structures in the scene and objects are bumps on the ground on the range image. The segmentation result is used to build an urban obstacle map. After that, the gradient is computed on the ground range image. Curb candidates are selected using height and geodesic features. Then, nearby curbs are reconnected using Bézier curves. Finally, accessibility is defined based on geometrical features and accessibility standards. Our methodology is tested on two MLS databases from Paris (France) and Enschede (The Netherlands). Our experiments show that our method has good detection rates, is fast and presents few false alarms. Our method outperforms other works reported in the literature on the same databases.
