[Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferMots-clés libres : Occupancy grids Point-to-triangle distance Résumé : (auteur) Mobile laser scanning (MLS) has become a popular technique for road inventory, building modelling, infrastructure management, mobility assessment, etc. Meanwhile, due to the high mobility of MLS systems, it is easy to revisit interested areas. However, change detection using MLS data of street environment has seldom been studied. In this paper, an approach that combines occupancy grids and a distance-based method for change detection from MLS point clouds is proposed. Unlike conventional occupancy grids, our occupancy-based method models space based on scanning rays and local point distributions in 3D without voxelization. A local cylindrical reference frame is presented for the interpolation of occupancy between rays according to the scanning geometry. The Dempster–Shafer theory (DST) is utilized for both intra-data evidence fusion and inter-data consistency assessment. Occupancy of reference point cloud is fused at the location of target points and then the consistency is evaluated directly on the points. A point-to-triangle (PTT) distance-based method is combined to improve the occupancy-based method. Because it is robust to penetrable objects, e.g. vegetation, which cause self-conflicts when modelling occupancy. The combined method tackles irregular point density and occlusion problems, also eliminates false detections on penetrable objects. [Termes IGN] saturation de la couleurRésumé : (auteur) Unsupervised change detection techniques have been widely employed in the remote-sensing area when suitable reference data is not available. Image (or Index) differencing is one of the most commonly used methods due to its simplicity. However, past applications of image differencing were often inefficient in separating real change and noise due to the lack of steps for feature selection and integration of contextual information. To address these issues, we propose a novel unsupervised procedure which uses two complementary features, namely luminance and saturation, extracted from multispectral images, and combines T-point thresholding, Bayes fusion, and Markov Random Fields. Through a case study, the performance of our proposed procedure was compared with other three unsupervised changedetection methods including Principle Component Analysis (PCA), Fuzzy c-means (FCM), and Expectation Maximum-Markov Random Field (EM-MRF). The change detection results from our proposed method are more compact with less noise than those from other methods over urban areas. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a framework for automatic registration of both the optical and 3D structural information extracted from oblique aerial imagery to a Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) point cloud without prior knowledge of an initial alignment. The framework employs a coarse to fine strategy in the estimation of the registration parameters. First, a dense 3D point cloud and the associated relative camera parameters are extracted from the optical aerial imagery using a state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction algorithm. Next, a digital surface model (DSM) is generated from both the LiDAR and the optical imagery-derived point clouds. Coarse registration parameters are then computed from salient features extracted from the LiDAR and optical imagery-derived DSMs. The registration parameters are further refined using the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm to minimize global error between the registered point clouds. The novelty of the proposed approach is in the computation of salient features from the DSMs, and the selection of matching salient features using geometric invariants coupled with Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC) match validation. The feature extraction and matching process enables the automatic estimation of the coarse registration parameters required for initializing the fine registration process. The registration framework is tested on a simulated scene and aerial datasets acquired in real urban environments. Results demonstrates the robustness of the framework for registering optical and 3D structural information extracted from aerial imagery to a LiDAR point cloud, when co-existing initial registration parameters are unavailable. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) The TanDEM-X mission (TDM) is a spaceborne radar interferometer which delivers a global digital surface model (DSM) with an unprecedented spatial resolution. This allows resolving objects above ground such as buildings. Extracting and characterizing those objects in an automated manner represents a challenging problem but opens simultaneously a broad range of large-area applications. In this paper, we discuss and evaluate the suitability of morphological filters (MFs) for the derivation of normalized DSMs from the TDM in complex urban environments and introduce a novel region-growing-based progressive MF procedure. This approach is jointly proposed and can be combined with a postclassification processing scheme to specifically allow for a viable reconstruction of urban morphology in a challenging terrain. The filter approach comprises a multistep procedure using concepts of morphological image filtering, region growing, and interpolation techniques. Therefore, it extends the idea of progressive MFs. The latter aim to identify nonground pixels in the DSM by gradually increasing the size of a structuring element and applying iteratively an elevation difference threshold. After the identification of initial nonground pixels, here, potential nonground pixels are identified within each iteration, and their similarity with respect to neighboring nonground pixels is assessed. Pixels are finally labeled as nonground if a constraint is fulfilled. The postclassification processing scheme adapts techniques of object-based image analyses to further refine regions of classified nonground pixels. Digital terrain models are subsequently generated by interpolating between identified ground pixels. Experimental results are obtained for settlement areas that cover large parts of the cities of Izmir (Turkey) and Wuppertal (Germany). They confirm the capability of the proposed approaches for a reduction of omission errors compared to basic MF-based methods when classifying ground pixe- s, which is favorable in a mountainous terrain with steep slopes. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) This article presents the enviroCar platform for collecting geographic data acquired from automobile sensors and openly providing those data for further processing and analysis. By plugging a low-cost On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) adapter into a car and using an Android smartphone, various kinds of sensor data measured by today's cars can be collected and uploaded on to the Web. Once available on the Web, these data can be used to monitor traffic and related environmental parameters. We analyse the OBD-II interface and its potential usage for environmental monitoring, e.g. to estimate fuel consumption and resulting inline image emissions, noise emission, and standing times. Next, we present the main contribution of this article, the system design of the enviroCar platform. This system design consists of the enviroCar app and the enviroCar server, which allows for flexible geoprocessing of the uploaded data. We focus in this article on the description of the spatiotemporal RESTful Web Service interface and underlying data model specifically designed for handling the mobile sensor data. Finally, we present application scenarios in which the enviroCar platform can act as a powerful tool, e.g. regarding traffic monitoring and smarter cities (e.g. the detection of pollutant emission hotspots in the city), or towards applications for a quantified self (e.g. monitoring fuel consumption). We started the enviroCar project in 2013 and have been able to attract a growing number of participants since then. In a crowd-funding initiative, enviroCar was successfully funded by volunteers, demonstrating the interest in this platform.
