[Termes IGN] points homologuesRésumé : (Auteur) In urban change detection, coregistration between bi-temporal Very High Resolution (VHR) images taken from different viewing angles, especially from high off-nadir angles, is very challenging. The relief displacements of elevated objects in such images usually lead to significant misregistration that negatively affects the accuracy of change detection. This paper presents a novel solution, called Patch-Wise CoRegistration (PWCR), that can overcome the misregistration problem caused by viewing angle difference and accordingly improve the accuracy of urban change detection. The PWCR method utilizes a Digital Surface Model (DSM) and the Rational Polynomial Coefficients (RPCs) of the images to find corresponding points in a bi-temporal image set. The corresponding points are then used to generate corresponding patches in the image set. To prove that the PWCR method can overcome the misregistration problem and help achieving accurate change detection, two change detection criteria are tested and incorporated into a change detection framework. Experiments on four bi-temporal image sets acquired by Ikonos, GeoEye-1, and Worldview-2 satellites from different viewing angles show that the PWCR method can achieve highly accurate image patch coregistration (up to 80 percent higher than traditional coregistration for elevated objects), so that the change detection framework can produce accurate urban change detection results (over 90 percent). [Termes IGN] TwitterRésumé : (Auteur) We can collect, store, and analyze a huge amount of information about human mobility and social interaction activities due to the emergence of information and communication technologies and location-enabled mobile devices under cyber physical system frameworks. The high spatial resolution of population data on a multi-temporal scale is required by transport planners, human geographers, social scientists, and emergency management teams. In this study, we build a space-time multiple regression model to estimate grid-based (500 m × 500 m) spatial resolution at multi-temporal scale (30-min intervals) population data based on the space-time relationship among geospatially enabled person trip (PT) survey data and incorporate both mobile call (MC) and geotagged Twitter (GT) data. Since using geospatially enabled PT survey data as dependent variables enables us to acquire actual population amounts, which strongly depend on MCs and social interaction activities. Although many grids have a strong correlation between PT and MC/GT, some show fewer correlation results, especially where the grids have factories, schools, and workshops in which fewer MCs are found but a large population is presented. Although GT data are sparser than MCs, people from amusement and tourist areas can be detected by GT data. The space-time multiple regression model can also estimate the different amounts of populations based on human travel behavior that changes over space and time. According to accuracy assessments, the night-time estimated results, especially between 00:00 and 06:30, strongly correlate with national census data except in places where the grids have railway and subway stations. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (auteur) Recent years have seen an increasing number of spatial tools and technologies for enabling better decision-making in the urban environment. They have largely arisen because of the need for cities to be more efficiently planned to accommodate growing populations while mitigating urban sprawl, and also because of innovations in rendering data in 3D being well suited for visualising the urban built environment. In this paper we review a number of systems that are better known and more commonly used in the field of urban planning. We then introduce Envision Scenario Planner (ESP), a web-based 3D precinct geodesign, visualisation and assessment tool, developed using Agile and Co-design methods. We provide a comprehensive account of the tool, beginning with a discussion of its design and development process and concluding with an example use case and a discussion of the lessons learned in its development. That is to say, knowledge concerning the roofing materials or the different kinds of ground areas is required. Airborne remote sensing techniques appear to be convenient for providing such information at a large scale. However, results obtained using most traditional processing methods based on usual red-green-blue-near infrared multispectral images remain limited for such applications. A possible way to improve classification results is to enhance the imagery spectral resolution using superspectral or hyperspectral sensors. In this study, it is intended to design a superspectral sensor dedicated to urban materials classification and this work particularly focused on the selection of the optimal spectral band subsets for such sensor. First, reflectance spectral signatures of urban materials were collected from 7 spectral libraires. Then, spectral optimization was performed using this data set. The band selection workflow included two steps, optimising first the number of spectral bands using an incremental method and then examining several possible optimised band subsets using a stochastic algorithm. The same wrapper relevance criterion relying on a confidence measure of Random Forests classifier was used at both steps. To cope with the limited number of available spectra for several classes, additional synthetic spectra were generated from the collection of reference spectra: intra-class variability was simulated by multiplying reference spectra by a random coefficient. At the end, selected band subsets were evaluated considering the classification quality reached using a rbf svm classifier. It was confirmed that a limited band subset was sufficient to classify common urban materials. The important contribution of bands from the Short Wave Infra-Red (SWIR) spectral domain (1000–2400 nm) to material classification was also shown.
