[Termes IGN] théorème de LiouvilleIndex. décimale : 30.40 Géodésie physique Résumé : (Auteur) Exogenous and endogenous forces lead to mass redistributions of the Earth, what causes variations of Earth rotation. With respect to the terrestrial reference frame, the changes of the direction of the rotational axis can be viewed as polar motion, the changes of the rotational speed can be observed as variation of the length of day. Today, such changes can be measured very accurately by space geodetic techniques. Therefore, more exact models of the Earth rotation are needed, if we want to compare the modelled variations of Earth rotation with the observed ones. The effects of mass redistributions in the atmosphere and ocean are often investigated whereas this study focusses on the smaller, socalled secondary effects. The influence of groundwater storage or surface load deformations are counted among. In order to estimate these secondary effect the linearization of the Liouville equations was tested regarding the small mass redistributions and an adequate gyroscopic model for the simulation of polar motion and changes in length of day was developed. By this model the influence of mass redistribution and of mass movement itself on the tensor of inertia and on the rotational vector of the Earth could be studied. This is called the direct effect.
Additionally, the deformation due to mass loads also causes small changes of the tensor of inertia. Thus, mass redistribution can have an indirect influence on Earth rotation by loading the Earth's surface. At first it is necessary to calculate the surface deformation due to the mass load itself using Greens functions. In a second step a three-dimensional deformation model was developed to extrapolate from the surface deformation into the Earth's crust and mantle. Assuming a plate flexure of the lithosphere, which displaces the more viscous asthenosphere under it, the changes in the tensor of inertia could be derived.
With these models for the direct and the indirect effect the influence of various secondary effects on Earth rotation could be simulated. The biggest influence is supposed to be due to large hydrological masses. Therefore the influences of groundwater storage, snow coverage, the drying up of the Lake Aral and the Three Gorges Dam, which is under construction right now, were estimated. Considerations of biological mass distributions such as the growth of plants and the carbon cycle were added.
From these calculations the magnitude of each secondary effect was estimated. However, a detailed discussion of each single effect shows for the future, that we need a more accurate description of the mass redristributions. Until now the available hydrological data are very inhomogeneous. The primary effects, i.e. atmospheric and oceanic excitations cannot be modelled precisely enough. Finally, the different primary and secondary effects were combined and compared with the observed Earth rotation parameters. This allows first conclusions about the quality of a special model.
In future, new satellite missions will provide much more accurate data of mass redistributions. Then the whole hydrological cycle will become more and more important to close the gap between observed and modelled variations of Earth rotation. The establishment of the new Global Geophysical Fluids Centre (GGFC) within the International Earth Rotation Service (IERS) in 1999 demonstrates the necessity to provide a consistent data base and to collect all data about fluid masses in system Earth. Within the last two years seven special bureaus for atmosphere, ocean, tides, hydrology, Earth mantle, Earth core and gravity/geocenter were formed. Henceforth, much more detailed predications of the influence of secondary effects on Earth rotation will be possible in the future. This thesis should serve as an initial project in this context.
Along with a better knowledge of the direct effects the indirect effects will gain importance. The results of the indirect influence of snow and ocean loading show some essential differences between the traditional calculation by means of load Love numbers and the calculation of the deformation using Greens functions the approach developed in this work. The comparison of both methods indicates that the simple correction with the load Love number is insufficient in most cases. The new approach used in this thesis seams to be more appropriate.

Furthermore, deformation measures, such as expansions, shearing strains and rotations in the infinitesimal environment of the points can be calculated.
The main problem consists in the implementation of a continuous body from geodetic measurements at discrete points, in order to be able to apply the theories of continuum mechanics. Therefore, one focus is put on the theoretical description of the kinematics of the continuum as well as on the theoretical discussion of some interpolation methods, which are suitable for a solution of the problem. In particular, monomials, Bernstein polynomials as well as the generalized Bernstein polynomials as basis functions for the interpolation with bivariate polynomials, tensor product Bezier surfaces as well as triangle Bezier surfaces are presented and compared.
The theoretical considerations are tested with example data records of the rock glacier Macun I. The results of the modelling of the continuum are presented in form of concrete numerical values and diagrams and are discussed. Suggestions on refined basic approaches for the model on the basis of new realizations are developed and interfaces for the extension of the models in order to allow the integration of additional hybrid data are pointed out.
Beyond that, possibilities are presented for a transition of the used kinematic models to the dynamic models.Numéro de notice : 27831 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Thèse étrangère Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=56454 Réservation
