[Termes IGN] ville intelligenteRésumé : (auteur) A considerable amount of demolition waste (DW) generated by urbanization and urban renewal has brought significant threats to the environment. However, there is a serious lack of environmental impact assessment towards city-scale demolition waste management (DWM), particularly from the systematical and dynamical perspective. Traditionally the assessment has been conducted from a static perspective. The purpose of this paper is to comprehensively evaluate the environmental impact of city-scale DWM from a complex system perspective. A novel evaluation model was developed by innovatively integrating the geographic information system (GIS) and system hybrid simulation consisting of system dynamics (SD), agent-based modeling (ABM) and discrete event simulation (DES). The proposed model was verified. Based on an empirical analysis of Shenzhen, China, it is found that the environmental impact of city-scale DWM is mainly concentrated in the central and northeastern regions of Shenzhen, demonstrating spatial heterogeneity and regional aggregation. Furthermore, the results reveal that the model is robust and effective to assess environmental impact from four aspects, i.e., land occupation, water pollution, air pollution and energy consumption. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the status quo of city-scale DWM and accompanying environmental impacts, and coordinating various district governments to formulate effective DWM policies. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) Generating accurate small area population forecasts is vital for governments and businesses as it provides better grounds for decision making and strategic planning of future demand for services and infrastructure. Small area population forecasting faces numerous challenges, including complex underlying demographic processes, data sparsity, and short time series due to changing geographic boundaries. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for small area forecasting which combines proven demographic forecasting methods, an exponential smoothing based algorithm, and a machine learning based forecasting technique. The proposed forecasting combination contains four base models commonly used in demographic forecasting, a univariate forecasting model specifically suitable for forecasting yearly data, and a globally trained Light Gradient Boosting Model (LGBM) that exploits the similarities between a collection of population time series. In this study, three forecast combination techniques are investigated to weight the forecasts generated by these base models. We empirically evaluate our method, by preparing small area population forecasts for Australia and New Zealand. The proposed framework is able to achieve competitive results in terms of forecasting accuracy. Moreover, we show that the inclusion of the LGBM model always improves the accuracy of combination models on both datasets, relative to combination models which only include the demographic models. In particular, the results indicate that the proposed combination framework decreases the prevalence of relatively poor forecasts, while improving the reliability of small area population forecasts. To achieve a desired accuracy, it is essential to model the atmosphere in an appropriate way. With respect to the neutral atmosphere, the signal sent by the satellite suffers a delay when crossing this layer during its travel to the receiver on the surface, the so-called neutral atmospheric delay. Although empirical models exist, they may not be suitable to represent microclimatic variations in different regions of the globe due to peculiarities that exist in diverse areas. To minimize this limitation, correction models based on numerical weather prediction (NWP) emerge. They allow the assessment of the delay from local atmospheric parameters and the evaluation of atmospheric particularities of each region. In addition, another way to obtain neutral atmosphere delay is by making use of data from radiosondes, which measure atmospheric data at various altitude levels. The main objective of this article is to investigate the performance of different models using GNSS data collected in countries with different climatic conditions. Assessment is performed on the positioning domain using the precise point positioning (PPP) technique. The results show that the proximity between the NWP-based models and radiosondes was approximately 3 cm, and that between empirical models was 5 cm, with variations that depended on the model and the region. Regarding the impact on the height component, the difference between the accuracy of the empirical and NWP models was approximately 16 cm. One of the key objectives of SDIs is to ensure the quick availability and accessibility of spatial data. The success of SDI depends on the underlying spatial datasets. Many developing countries such as Pakistan are facing problems in implementing SDI because of the unavailability of spatial data. Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) is an alternate source for obtaining spatial data. Therefore, the question is what factors hamper the adoption of VGI for making it part of SDI in Pakistan. The intention behind this paper is to explore such factors as the key research question. To do so, we make use of the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework along with the partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to empirically analyze the factors impeding VGI from becoming part of SDI in the country. The study concludes that many technical, organizational, and environmental factors affect the adoption of VGI to be part of SDI in Pakistan. [Termes IGN] variation diurneRésumé : (auteur) We derive an empirical model of the sub-daily polar motion (PM) based on the multi-GNSS processing incorporating GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo observations. The sub-daily PM model is based on 3-year multi-GNSS solutions with a 2 h temporal resolution. Firstly, we discuss differences in sub-daily PM estimates delivered from individual GNSS constellations, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and the combined multi-GNSS solutions. Secondly, we evaluate the consistency between the GNSS-based estimates of the sub-daily PM with three independent models, i.e., the model recommended in the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) 2010 Conventions, the Desai–Sibois model, and the Gipson model. The sub-daily PM estimates, which are derived from system-specific solutions, are inherently affected by artificial non-tidal signals. These signals arise mainly from the resonance between the Earth rotation period and the satellite revolution period. We found strong spurious signals in GLONASS-based and Galileo-based results with amplitudes up to 30 µas. The combined multi-GNSS solution delivers the best estimates and the best consistency of the sub-daily PM with external geophysical and empirical models. Moreover, the impact of the non-tidal spurious signals in the frequency domain diminishes in the multi-GNSS combination. After the recovery of the tidal coefficients for 38 tides, we infer better consistency of the GNSS-based empirical models with the new Desai–Sibois model than the model recommended in the IERS 2010 Conventions. The consistency with the Desai–Sibois model, in terms of the inter-quartile ranges of tidal amplitude differences, reaches the level of 1.6, 5.7, 6.3, 2.2 µas for the prograde diurnal tidal terms and 1.2/2.1, 2.3/6.0, 2.6/5.5, 2.1/5.1 µas for prograde/retrograde semi-diurnal tidal terms, for the combined multi-GNSS, GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo solutions, respectively.
