[Termes IGN] surface cultivéeRésumé : (auteur) The combined study of vegetation coverage (VC) and land use change provides important scientific guidance for the restoration and protection of arid regions. Taking Hongjian Nur (HJN) Lake in the desert region as a case study, the VC of this area was calculated using a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which is based on a mixed pixel decomposition method. A grey forecasting model (GM) (1, 1) was used to predict future VC. The driving factors of VC and land use change were analyzed. The results indicate that the average VC of the whole watershed showed a gradual increase from 0.29 to 0.49 during 2000–2017. The prediction results of the GM VC showed that the greening trend is projected to continue until 2027. The area of farmland in the watershed increased significantly and its area was mainly converted from unused land, grassland, and forest. The reason for increased VC may be that the combination of the exploitation of unused land and climate change, which is contrary to the country’s sustainable development goals (SDG; goal 15). Therefore, the particularities of the local ecological environment in China’s desert area needs to be considered in the development of ecological engineering projects. The data used contained accident types and occurrence time. Fatality and injury were also studied with spatial-temporal analysis. Moreover, accident hot spots were predicted performing Weighted Overlay Method (WOM) and Fuzzy Overlay Method (FOM), which are widely used in decision making and alternatives analysis based on the results obtained from Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Point Density (PD) method was used to verify hot spots in urban region that resulted from the mentioned two methods. Traffic accidents’ hot spots were predicted for Irbid City in Jordan using the data of the accidents that occurred between 2013 and 2015. Both WOM and FOM proved to be successful in identifying hot spots in parts of study area when verified to PD surface. Final results showed that eight hot spots were pointed out; three are road sections and five are major intersections, which were analyzed to get accident-contributing factors and suggest the proper remedies. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) This paper proposes a new method for urban population density prediction at 30 m resolution. Using data for Bangalore, the paper demonstrates that population within each 30 m residential built-up cell can be modeled as a function of cell-level data on street density and building heights and ward-level data on car ownership. Building-height data were generated from Cartosat-1 stereo imagery using an open-source satellite stereo image processing software. Using this building-height data in conjunction with the other datasets, the paper demonstrates that a 30 m resolution population density surface can be generated such that, when summed to the ward level, the median absolute percentage error between predicted population and known census population at the ward level is 8.29%. The paper also shows that the relationship between population density, street density, building height, and ward level car ownership is spatially non-stationary. A fine-grained understanding of urban population densities, as enabled by the proposed method, can be beneficial to research, policy, and practice related to cities. [Termes IGN] propagation d'erreurRésumé : (auteur) Cellular automata (CA) models are in growing use for land-use change simulation and future scenario prediction. It is necessary to conduct model assessment that reports the quality of simulation results and how well the models reproduce reliable spatial patterns. Here, we review 347 CA articles published during 1999–2018 identified by a Scholar Google search using ‘cellular automata’, ‘land’ and ‘urban’ as keywords. Our review demonstrates that, during the past two decades, 89% of the publications include model assessment related to dataset, procedure and result using more than ten different methods. Among all methods, cell-by-cell comparison and landscape analysis were most frequently applied in the CA model assessment; specifically, overall accuracy and standard Kappa coefficient respectively rank first and second among all metrics. The end-state assessment is often criticized by modelers because it cannot adequately reflect the modeling ability of CA models. We provide five suggestions to the method selection, aiming to offer a background framework for future method choices as well as urging to focus on the assessment of input data and error propagation, procedure, quantitative and spatial change, and the impact of driving factors. [Termes IGN] transmission de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) GNSSs, such as Galileo and modernized GPS, BeiDou and GLONASS systems, offer new potential and challenges in precise time and frequency transfer using multi-frequency observations. We focus on the performance of Galileo time and frequency transfer using the E1, E5a, E5b and E5 observations. Dual-frequency, triple-frequency and quad-frequency models for precise time and frequency transfer with different Galileo observations are proposed. Four time and transfer links between international time laboratories are used to assess the performances of different models in terms of time link noise level and frequency stability indicators. The average RMS values of the smoothed residuals of the clock difference series are 0.033 ns, 0.033 ns and 0.034 ns for the dual-frequency, triple-frequency and quad-frequency models with four time links, respectively. With respect to frequency stability, the average stability values at 15,360 s are 9.51 × 10−15, 9.46 × 10−15 and 9.37 × 10−15 for the dual-frequency, triple-frequency and quad-frequency models with four time links, respectively. Moreover, although biases among different models and receiver the inter-frequency exist, their characteristics are relatively stable. Generally, the dual-/triple-/quad-frequency models show similar performance for those time links, and the quad-frequency models can provide significant potential for switching among and unifying the three multi-frequency solutions, as well as further enhancing the redundancy and reliability compared to the current dual-frequency time transfer method.
