[Termes descripteurs IGN] voisinage (topologie)Résumé : (auteur) Building pattern recognition is fundamental to a wide range of downstream applications, such as urban landscape evaluation, social analyses, and map generalization. Although many studies have been conducted, there is still a lack of satisfactory results, due to the imprecision of the relative direction model of any two adjacent buildings and the ineffective extraction methods. This study aims to provide an alternative for quantifying the direction and the spatial continuity of any two buildings on the basis of the Delaunay triangulation for the recognition of linear building patterns. First, constrained Delaunay triangulations (CDTs) are created for all buildings within each block and every two adjacent buildings. Then, the spatial continuity index (SCI), the direction index (DI), and other spatial relations (e.g., distance) of every two adjacent buildings are derived using the CDT. Finally, the building block is modelled as a graph based on derived matrices, and a graph segmentation approach is proposed to extract linear building patterns. In the segmentation process, the edges of the graph are removed first, according to the global thresholds of the SCI and distance, and are subsequently subdivided into subgraphs on direction rules. The proposed method is tested using three datasets. The experimental results suggest that the proposed method can recognize both collinear and curvilinear building patterns, given that the correctness values are all above 92% for the three study areas. The results also demonstrate that the novel SCI can effectively filter many insignificant neighbor relationships in the graph segmentation process. It is noteworthy that the proposed DI is capable of measuring building relative directions accurately and works efficiently in linear building pattern extraction. [Termes descripteurs IGN] représentation spatio-sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) We propose a navigation model for indoor environments that combines a 3D geometric modeling of buildings with connection properties of spaces and semantic elements such as openings and installations. The model is an extension of the IndoorGML standard navigation module with a twofold benefit: the extension facilitated the data import from the international standard CityGML and introduced the semantics of various fixtures in indoor space of buildings making the navigation model more suitable for human needs. Several experiments have been conducted by extracting networks from CityGML data and performing a comparison with other network construction techniques. The second contribution of the paper is an algorithm for the automatic extraction of the navigation network. Such an algorithm is a hybrid solution between medial axis approaches and visibility graph approaches. Normally, medial axes approaches are a good representation of human navigation in narrow corridors, especially to avoid obstacles, but introduce distortions in open space. On the other hand, visibility approaches work better in open spaces. In our extraction technique, the resulting network takes advantages of both approaches and better mimics human beings’ navigation in indoor environments. [Termes descripteurs IGN] système multi-agentsRésumé : (auteur) Immigration accounts for 80% of Switzerland's annual population growth, and therefore profoundly impacts demographics, and the attendant housing needs. As there are different possible future scenarios of immigration that will impact urban transformation in Switzerland, we have developed an agent-based dwellings model that, with reasonable computing time due to the use of the computer architecture of graphical processor units, can simulate for a time horizon of decades, the annual evolution of millions of individually characterised households. This dwellings model is coupled to an agent-based population model that simulates millions of individual population agents. We simulate different immigration scenarios, up to 2035, in the Swiss agglomeration of Lausanne. It is shown that the building capacity of the city of Lausanne will reach a limit in 2022, subsequently leading to more rapid growth in the periphery of the agglomeration Lausanne. The construction of new residential dwellings consists primarily of smaller apartments that are more attractive to the demographic of smaller households; this demographic tends to move to the periphery. As families tend to move towards the city centre due to the availability of services, the city and periphery show opposite evolutions over time in the numbers of family households compared to numbers of singles and couples households. The periphery requires an increase in the number and typology of services targeted at the growing demographic of smaller households. Further as most workplaces are still be located in the city centre, the planned improvement of transportation infrastructure in the agglomeration should primarily focus on improved access to the periphery. These observations underline the profound impact of the typology of immigration on the demand for suitable housing, and thus on urban development. [Termes descripteurs IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new framework for automatically creating compact building models from aerial LiDAR point clouds, where each point is known to belong to the class building. The approach addresses the issues of non-uniform point density and outlier detection to extract and refine semantic roof structures by a sequence of operations on a label map. We first partition the points into some coarse regions based on a region growing method over the Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) model. The region label IDs are then projected to a 2D grid map, which is used to refine the roof regions and their boundaries. We design an energy optimization approach on the label map to optimize the region labels. In order to regularize the contours of roof regions extracted from the label map, we propose a new method for refining contour segment vertices, which iteratively filters the normals of contour segments and uses them to guide the update of contour vertices. The effectiveness of this method is evaluated on LiDAR point clouds from different scenes, and its performance is validated by extensive comparisons to state-of-the-art techniques. The quantification of this perception would be very useful in many applications. This article presents the first approach to determining the visible volume, which we call the 3D-viewshed, in each and all the points of a DEM (Digital Elevation Model). Most previous visibility algorithms in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) are based on the concept of a 2D-viewshed, which determines the number of points that can be seen from an observer in a DEM. Extending such a 2D-viewshed to 3D space, then to all the DEM-points, is too expensive computationally since the viewshed computation per se is costly. In this work, we propose the first approach to compute a new visibility metric that quantifies the visible volume from every point of a DEM. In particular, we developed an efficient algorithm with a high data and calculation re-utilization. This article presents the first total-3D-viewshed maps together with validation results and comparative analysis. Using our highly scalable parallel algorithm to compute the total-3D-viewshed of a DEM with 4 million points on a Xeon Processor E5-2698 takes only 1.3 minutes.
