[Termes IGN] vitesse de déplacementRésumé : (auteur) The outcomes for emergency medical services (EMS) are highly dependent on space-time accessibility. Prior research describes the location of EMS needs with low accuracy and has not integrated a temporal analysis of the road network, which accounts for varying mobility in a dynamic transportation network. In this study, we formulated a network-based location-allocation model (NLAM) and analyzed the spatial characteristics of emergency medical facilities within the fifth ring road in Beijing by considering time, traffic, and population characteristics. The conclusions are as follows: (1) The high demand area for EMS is concentrated in the areas in middle, north, and east during the daytime (8:00–20:00) and in the middle and north during the nighttime (20:00–8:00). From day to night, the centroid of the potential demand distribution shifts in the Western and Southern areas. (2) The road traffic data is sampled 20 times throughout the week, and variations in the average driving speed affect a higher mean driving speed on the weekend. This primarily impacts the main roads, due to these roads experiencing the greatest fluctuation in speed throughout the week of any roadway in the study area. (3) Finally, the 15-min coverage of emergency medical facilities are sampled 20 times in one week and analyzed. Fortunately, there is 100% coverage at night; however, due to traffic congestion, there were a few blind coverage areas in the daytime. The blind area is prevalent in Shijingshan South Station and the Jingxian Bridge in the South fifth ring. [Termes IGN] trace numériqueRésumé : (auteur) The temporal nature of humans interaction with Points of Interest (POIs) in cities can differ depending on place type and regional location. Times when many people are likely to visit restaurants (place type) in Italy, may differ from times when many people are likely to visit restaurants in Lebanon (i.e. regional differences). Geosocial data are a powerful resource to model these temporal differences in cities, as traditional methods used to study cross-cultural differences do not scale to a global level. As cities continue to grow in population and economic development, research identifying the social and geophysical (e.g., climate) factors that influence city function remains important and incomplete. In this work, we take a quantitative approach, applying dynamic time warping and hierarchical clustering on temporal signatures to model geosocial temporal patterns for Retail and Restaurant Facebook POIs hours of operation for more than 100 cities in 90 countries around the world. Results show cities’ temporal patterns cluster to reflect the cultural region they represent. Furthermore, temporal patterns are influenced by a mix of social and geophysical factors. Trends in the data suggest social factors influence unique drops in temporal signatures, and geophysical factors influence when daily temporal patterns start and finish. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (auteur) The establishment of the terrestrial laser scanner changed the analysis strategies in engineering geodesy from point-wise approaches to areal ones. During recent years, a multitude of developments regarding a laser scanner-based geometric state description were made. However, the areal deformation analysis still represents a challenge. In this paper, a spatio-temporal deformation model is developed, combining the estimation of B-spline surfaces with the stochastic modelling of deformations. The approach’s main idea is to model the acquired measuring object by means of three parts, similar to a least squares collocation: a deterministic trend, representing the undistorted object, a stochastic signal, describing a locally homogeneous deformation process, and the measuring noise, accounting for uncertainties caused by the measuring process. Due to the stochastic modelling of the deformations in the form of distance-depending variograms, the challenge of defining identical points within two measuring epochs is overcome. Based on the geodetic datum defined by the initial trend surface, a point-to-surface- and a point-to-point-comparison of the acquired data sets is possible, resulting in interpretable and meaningful deformation metrics. Furthermore, following the basic ideas of a least squares collocation, the deformation model allows a time-related space-continuous description as well as a space- and time-continuous prediction of the deformation. The developed approach is validated using simulated data sets, and the respective results are analysed and compared with respect to nominal surfaces. To achieve this, the model of the data must be suitable to efficiently store and process moving objects. Currently, a unit-based model is widely used, where each moving object is divided into one or more time intervals, during which the object behaves uniformly. This model is also used for a data type called moving regions, which resembles moving and shape changing regions as, for example, forest fires or cloud fields. However, this model struggles to support operations like union, difference or intersection of two moving regions; the resulting objects are unnecessarily bloated and uncomfortable to handle because the resulting number of units is generally very high. In this paper, an alternative model for moving regions is proposed, which is based on polyhedra. Furthermore, this work develops an isomorphism between moving regions and polyhedra including all relevant operations, which has the additional advantage that several implementations for those are already readily available; this is demonstrated by a reference implementation using the existing and well-tested Computational Geometry Algorithms Library (CGAL). However, it is still a challenge to combine data from heterogeneous sources into a dynamic transport network, while allowing for network modifications over time. This article uses conceptual modeling to develop multi‐temporal transport networks in geographic information systems (GIS) for accessibility studies. The proposed multi‐temporal network enables accessibility studies with different temporal granularities and from any location inside the city, resulting in a flexible tool for transport and urban planning. The implemented network is tested in two case studies that focus on socially excluded people in a large global city, São Paulo, Brazil, including accessibility analyses from slum areas. It explores variations within a day and differences between transport modes across time. Case study results indicate how the accessibility is heterogeneous in low‐income regions.
