[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The automated detection and mapping of landslides from Very High Resolution (VHR) images present several challenges related to the heterogeneity of landslide sizes, shapes and soil surface characteristics. However, a common geomorphological characteristic of landslides is to be organized with a series of embedded and scaled features. These properties motivated the use of a multiresolution image analysis approach for their detection. In this work, we propose a hybrid segmentation/classification region-based method, devoted to this specific issue. The method, which uses images of the same area at various spatial resolutions (Medium to Very High Resolution), relies on a recently introduced top-down hierarchical framework. In the specific context of landslide analysis, two main novelties are introduced to enrich this framework. The first novelty consists of using non-spectral information, obtained from Digital Terrain Model (DTM), as a priori knowledge for the guidance of the segmentation/classification process. The second novelty consists of using a new domain adaptation strategy, that allows to reduce the expert’s interaction when handling large image datasets. Experiments performed on satellite images acquired over terrains affected by landslides demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method with different hierarchical levels of detail addressing various operational needs. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) The objective of cartographic generalisation is to simplify geographic data in order to create legible maps when scale decreases. This demonstration presents the implementation of a work in progress, aiming at defining a multi-agent, multi-level solution for generalisation. The demonstration introduces the basics of cartographic generalisation and shows some aspects of the model currently being developed, including parameterisation and detailed execution of some interactions, as well as results. [Termes IGN] système multi-agentsRésumé : (auteur) The objective of cartographic generalisation is to simplify geographic data in order to create legible maps when scale decreases. It often requires to reason at different levels of abstraction (e.g. a building, a city). To automate this process, Multi-Agent approaches have been used for several years. Map objects (e.g. buildings) are modelled as autonomous entities that try to solve constraints through appropriate transformations. Yet, those approaches are not able to deal with all situations that appear between cartographic objects in a map. Indeed, though a map intrinsically involves objects that belong to several description, scale or organisation levels, there is no explicit multi-level representation in agent-based cartographic models. Thus we assume that the use of a multi-level multi-agent model would improve the automated generalisation process. Especially, the PADAWAN model is a multi-agent model offering multi-level capabilities which meet quite well the requirements for the multi-level organisation of cartographic objects. In this paper, we expose how we use this model on the one hand, to reify multi-level relations between cartographic agents, and on the other hand, to represent the constraints and the actions proposed to solve them, as interactions between the agents. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (auteur) It may be argued that urban areas may now be modeled with sufficient details for realistic fly-through over the cities at a reasonable price point. Modeling cities at the street level for immersive street-view navigation is however still a very expensive (or even impossible) operation if one tries to match the level of detail acquired by street-view mobile mapping imagery. This paper proposes to leverage the richness of these street-view images with the common availability of nation-wide LOD1 3D city models, using an image-based rendering technique : projective multi-texturing. Such a coarse 3D city model may be used as a lightweight scene proxy of approximate coarse geometry. The images neighboring the interpolated viewpoint are projected onto this scene proxy using their estimated poses and calibrations and blended together according to their relative distance. This enables an immersive navigation within the image dataset that is perfectly equal to – and thus as rich as – original images when viewed from their viewpoint location, and which degrades gracefully in between viewpoint locations. Beyond proving the applicability of this preprocessing-free computer graphics technique to mobile mapping images and LOD1 3D city models, our contributions are three-fold. Firstly, image distortion is corrected online in the GPU, preventing an extra image resampling step. Secondly, externally-computed binary masks may be used to discard pixels corresponding to moving objects. Thirdly, we propose a shadowmap-inspired technique that prevents, at marginal cost, the projective texturing of surfaces beyond the first, as seen from the projected image viewpoint location. Finally, an augmented visualization application is introduced to showcase the proposed immersive navigation: images are unpopulated from vehicles using externally-computed binary masks and repopulated using a 3D visualization of a 2D traffic simulation.
