[Termes IGN] trafic urbainRésumé : (auteur) Movement patterns of intra-urban goods/things and the ways they differ from human mobility and traffic flow patterns have seldom been explored due to data access and methodological limitations, especially from systemic and long timescale perspectives. However, urban logistics big data are increasingly available, enabling unprecedented spatial and temporal resolutions to this issue. This research proposes an analytical framework for exploring intra-urban goods movement patterns by integrating spatial analysis, network analysis and spatial interaction analysis. Using daily urban logistics big data (over 10 million orders) provided by the largest online logistics company in Hong Kong (GoGoVan) from 2014 to 2016, we analyzed two spatial characteristics (displacement and direction) of urban goods movement. Results showed that the distribution of goods displaceFower law or exponential distribution of human mobility trends. The origin–destination flows of goods were used to build a spatially embedded network, revealing that Hong Kong became increasingly connected through intra-urban freight movement. Finally, spatial interaction characteristics were revealed using a fitting gravity model. Distance lacked substantial influence on the spatial interaction of goods movement. These findings have policy implications to intra-urban logistics and urban transport planning. [Termes IGN] trace GPSRésumé : (auteur) Recently, Uber released datasets named Uber Movement to the public in support of urban planning and transportation planning. To prevent user privacy issues, Uber aggregates car GPS traces into small areas. After aggregating car GPS traces into small areas, Uber releases free data products that indicate the average travel times of Uber cars between two small areas. The average travel times of Uber cars in the morning peak time periods on weekdays could be used as a proxy for average one-way car-based commuting times. In this study, to demonstrate usefulness of Uber Movement data, we use Uber Movement data as a proxy for commuting time data by which commuters’ average one-way commuting time across Greater Boston can be figured out. We propose a new approach to estimate the average car-based commuting times through combining commuting times from Uber Movement data and commuting flows from travel survey data. To further demonstrate the applicability of the commuting times estimated by Uber movement data, this study further measures the spatial accessibility of jobs by car by aggregating place-to-place commuting times to census tracts. The empirical results further uncover that 1) commuters’ average one-way commuting time is around 20 min across Greater Boston; 2) more than 75% of car-based commuters are likely to have a one-way commuting time of less than 30 min; 3) less than 1% of car-based commuters are likely to have a one-way commuting time of more than 60 min; and 4) the areas suffering a lower level of spatial accessibility of jobs by car are likely to be evenly distributed across Greater Boston. The processing of this huge amount of information, including spatial properties, which are frequently represented in heterogeneous ways, is a challenging task that has boosted research in the big data area in an attempt to investigate cases and propose new solutions for dealing with its peculiarities. In the literature, many different proposals and approaches for facing the problem have been proposed, addressing different goals and different types of users. However, most are obtained by customizing existing approaches which were originally developed for the processing of big data of the alphanumeric type, without any specific support for spatial or spatiotemporal properties. Thus, the proposed solutions can exploit the parallelism provided by these kinds of systems, but without taking into account, in a proficient way, the space and time dimensions that intrinsically characterize the analyzed datasets. As described in the literature, current solutions include: (i) the on-top approach, where an underlying system for traditional big datasets is used as a black box while spatial processing is added through the definition of user-defined functions that are specified on top of the underlying system; (ii) the from-scratch approach, where a completely new system is implemented for a specific application context; and (iii) the built-in approach, where an existing solution is extended by injecting spatial data functions into its core. This book aims at promoting new and innovative studies, proposing new architectures or innovative evolutions of existing ones, and illustrating experiments on current technologies in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of distributed and cluster systems when they deal with spatiotemporal data. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Indoor mapping attracts more attention with the development of 2D and 3D camera and Lidar sensor. Lidar systems can provide a very high resolution and accurate point cloud. When aiming to reconstruct the static part of the scene, moving objects should be detected and removed which can prove challenging. This paper proposes a generic method to merge meshes produced from Lidar data that allows to tackle the issues of moving objects removal and static scene reconstruction at once. The method is adapted to a platform collecting point cloud from two Lidar sensors with different scan direction, which will result in different quality. Firstly, a mesh is efficiently produced from each sensor by exploiting its natural topology. Secondly, a visibility analysis is performed to handle occlusions (due to varying viewpoints) and remove moving objects. Then, a boolean optimization allows to select which triangles should be removed from each mesh. Finally, a stitching method is used to connect the selected mesh pieces. Our method is demonstrated on a Navvis M3 (2D laser ranger system). [Termes IGN] polyèdreRésumé : (auteur) Moving objects databases store and process objects with a focus on their spatiotemporal behaviour. To achieve this, the model of the data must be suitable to efficiently store and process moving objects. Currently, a unit-based model is widely used, where each moving object is divided into one or more time intervals, during which the object behaves uniformly. This model is also used for a data type called moving regions, which resembles moving and shape changing regions as, for example, forest fires or cloud fields. However, this model struggles to support operations like union, difference or intersection of two moving regions; the resulting objects are unnecessarily bloated and uncomfortable to handle because the resulting number of units is generally very high. In this paper, an alternative model for moving regions is proposed, which is based on polyhedra. Furthermore, this work develops an isomorphism between moving regions and polyhedra including all relevant operations, which has the additional advantage that several implementations for those are already readily available; this is demonstrated by a reference implementation using the existing and well-tested Computational Geometry Algorithms Library (CGAL).
