Periodic behavior is one of the most important behaviors of moving objects. However, the existing methods of detecting periodicities assume a moving object either does not have any periodic behavior at all or just has a single periodic behavior in one place. Thus they are incapable of dealing with many real world situations whereby a moving object may have multiple periodic behaviors mixed together. Aiming at addressing this problem, this paper proposes a probabilistic periodicity detection method called MPDA. MPDA first identifies high dense regions by the kernel density method, then generates revisit time sequences based on the dense regions, and at last adopts a filter-refine paradigm to detect mixed periodicities. At the filter stage, candidate periods are identified by comparing the observed and reference distribution of revisit time intervals using the chi-square test, and at the refine stage, a periodic degree measure is defined to examine the significance of candidate periods to identify accurate periods existing in MOD. Synthetic datasets with various characteristics and two real world tracking datasets validate the effectiveness of MPDA under various scenarios. MPDA has the potential to play an important role in analyzing complicated behaviors of moving objects. This paper aims to draw an improved model based on Region Connection Calculus (RCC) theory to represent the spatiotemporal topological relationships between moving object trajectories along road networks. This paper first uses a dimension reduction method based on a linear-reference transformation to model the moving object trajectories segments, and then defines new time–connection and space–connection relations between two trajectory segments. On this basis, the paper proposes an extension to the RCC-based spatiotemporal binary relationship set so that the combined semantics of the spatiotemporal predicates can be described completely. A case study was carried out using Floating Car Data in Guangzhou city. The computational results show that in a real application, the occurrence frequencies of the RCC-based binary relationships are distributed nonuniformly and the semantics of some binary relationships with the highest occurrence are coarse. Therefore, the partition of the spatiotemporal connection relations and the finer aspects of the spatiotemporal relationship model may require further research work. [Termes IGN] représentation du changementRésumé : (auteur) With the rise of moving object databases it is possible to store and process spatial and temporal data, for example geometrical structures together with the information about how these behave over intervals of time. For simple objects like moving points the spatiotemporal development is derived from the start and end position in space and time, which is then linearly interpolated. For moving regions, especially with changing shapes, it is more challenging to obtain the necessary data to represent them. An elegant and intuitive solution is to create an algorithm, which automatically interpolates the moving region from the start and end shape over a specified time interval. Two papers on this topic have been published in the past, each focussing on different aspects of this so-called Region Interpolation Problem. This paper tries to combine the advantages and improve these approaches to provide high-quality interpolations while maintaining robustness even in border cases. This results in the implementation of a library, which can be easily integrated into existing moving objects database systems, as for example the DBMS Secondo developed at the FernUniversität in Hagen. [Termes IGN] vitesse de déplacementRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with the exploitation of Doppler centroid measurements for ship velocity estimation from focused single-look complex synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. An algorithm is presented, which can be used as a discrimination tool to reduce the false alarm rate of standard adaptive threshold detectors and to complement the ship detection task with velocity estimation. The outputs are the indication of the presence of a moving target and the estimate of its slant range velocity. After a review of its theoretical background, algorithm features and performance are verified by application to TerraSAR-X data. The proposed method performs robust Doppler spectrum derivation for candidate ship targets and background pixels. The presented results show that the estimated radial velocity is in very good agreement (5% root-mean-square deviation) with that resulting from the azimuth offset method. Rejection of bright sea features and azimuth ambiguities is also demonstrated, taking advantage of the performed velocity analysis.
