[Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) Properly incorporating location-uncertainties – which is, fully considering their impact when processing queries of interest – is a paramount in any application dealing with spatio-temporal data. Typically, the location-uncertainty is a consequence of the fact that objects cannot be tracked continuously and the inherent imprecision of localization devices. Although there is a large body of works tackling various aspects of efficient management of uncertainty in spatio-temporal data – the settings consider homogeneous localization devices, e.g., either a Global Positioning System (GPS), or different sensors (roadside, indoor, etc.). In this work, we take a first step towards combining the uncertain location data – i.e., fusing the uncertainty of moving objects location – obtained from both GPS devices and roadside sensors. We develop a formal model for capturing the whereabouts in time in this setting and propose the Fused Bead (FB) model, extending the bead model based solely on GPS locations. We also present algorithms for answering traditional spatio-temporal range queries, as well as a special variant pertaining to objects locations with respect to lanes on road segments – augmenting the conventional graph based road network with the width attribute. In addition, pruning techniques are proposed in order to expedite the query processing. We evaluated the benefits of the proposed approach on both real (Beijing taxi) and synthetic (generated from a customized trajectory generator) data. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed method of fusing the uncertainties may eliminate up to 26 % of the false positives in the Beijing taxi data, and up to 40 % of the false positives in the larger synthetic dataset, when compared to using the traditional bead uncertainty models. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) We detail an empirical animation study to assess how display design, user spatial ability, and training might influence visuospatial decision-making with animated displays showing aircraft movements. We present empirical results of a visuospatial detection task with moving objects, based on response accuracy and response time, including a descriptive eye-movement analysis. We found significant differences in a visuospatial detection task of moving objects across animation design types and domain expertise levels based on viewers’ visuospatial skill differences. With this empirical approach, we hope to better understand how users explore and extract information from animated displays. Based on these results, we aim to further develop empirically validated animation display design guidelines to increase their efficiency and effectiveness for decision-making with and about moving objects. [Termes IGN] surveillanceRésumé : (auteur) This dissertation investigates the problem of localising multiple persons in image sequences, while, at the same time, establishing temporal correspondences between single-frame locations. The aim of this work is the improvement of the reliability and precision of the generated trajectories, which is addressed by the formulation and investigation of a joint probabilistic model for the recursive filtering of the estimated positions. The trajectories are estimated in a common 3D object coordinate system, which was previously almost exclusively done in 2D. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction

[Termes IGN] vitesseMots-clés libres : traffic-aware spatial network Résumé : (auteur) Route planning and recommendation have received significant attention in recent years. In this light, we study a novel problem of planning unobstructed paths in traffic-aware spatial networks (TAUP queries) to avoid potential traffic congestions. We propose two probabilistic TAUP queries: (1) a time-threshold query like “what is the path from the check-in desk to the flight SK 1217 with the minimum congestion probability to take at most 45 minutes?”, and (2) a probability-threshold query like “what is the fastest path from the check-in desk to the flight SK 1217 whose congestion probability is less than 20 %?”. These queries are mainly motivated by indoor space applications, but are also applicable in outdoor spaces. We believe that these queries are useful in some popular applications, such as planning unobstructed paths for VIP bags in airports and planning convenient routes for travelers. The TAUP queries are challenged by two difficulties: (1) how to model the traffic awareness in spatial networks practically, and (2) how to compute the TAUP queries efficiently under different query settings. To overcome these challenges, we construct a traffic-aware spatial network G t a (V, E) by analyzing uncertain trajectories of moving objects. Based on G t a (V, E), two efficient algorithms are developed to compute the TAUP queries. The performances of TAUP queries are verified by extensive experiments on real and synthetic spatial data.
