[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) Residential areas and road networks have a strong geographical correlation. The development of a single geographical feature could destroy the geographical correlation. It is necessary to establish collaborative generalization models suitable for multiple features. However, existing road network generalization methods for mapping purposes do not fully consider residential areas. Compared with road networks, residential areas have a higher priority in cartographic generalization. In this regard, this study proposes a road network generalization method constrained by residential areas. First, the roads and settlements obtained from clustering residential areas were classified. Next, the importance of the settlements was evaluated and certain settlements were selected as the control features. Subsequently, a geographical network with the settlements as the nodes was built, and the traffic paths between adjacent settlements were searched. Finally, redundant paths between the settlements were simplified, and the visual continuity and topological connectivity were checked. The data of a 1:50,000 road network and residential areas were used as the experimental data. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method preserves the overall structure and relative density characteristics of the road network, as well as the geographical correlation between the road network and residential areas. [Termes IGN] urbanismeRésumé : (auteur) Environmental impacts are to be taken into account as early as possible in the design stages of urban projects so as to be able to select the most sustainable design. Nowadays, more and more district digital models, modelled according to BIM (building information modelling) standards and guidelines, are produced during the conception and construction of new or renewed districts. CIM can store data about buildings, underground utilities, roads, city furniture and vegetation (positioning, dimensions, materials and sometimes technical properties). Data about buildings are already used for LCA at the building scale (Marrero et al. 2020) and have been exploited at the district scale to evaluate impact of materials used for construction (Delval et al. 2018). A consequential approach (ie. evaluating environmental consequences of a change in the existing system, here the building stock or the city) could be considered as the most relevant for ecodesign objectives but is too rarely performed (Frischknecht et al. 2016; Roux 2020). Complementary data from CIM could be used to enhance consequential LCA at the district scale and simulate various scenarios (local climate conditions, shadow analysis from building morphology, impact of public spaces, roads and underground utilities, etc.). This induces a greater complexity as far as data modelling and processing are concerned. Research on urban analysis from CIM data has shed light on numerous issues to be tackled in order to be able to perform analysis at the district or city scale thanks to a CIM, including georeferencing, level of detail management, definition of specific entities and property sets and need for generalized entities (Deprêtre et Jacquinod 2021). Through this work, we aimed at identifying more precisely CIM data potential for consequential LCA at the district scale in order to propose new methods and processes and test them on case studies. A literature review is performed on eco-design and city information modelling aside with a review on existing city models. Main research potential to improve LCA of urban projects are identified and classified according to the goal and scope of the study. A first field case study is exposed and major drags and opportunities to district LCA are discussed in this specific case where an existing model has been developed without considering an eco-design objective. [Termes IGN] surveillance sanitaireRésumé : (Auteur) In order to find useful intervention strategies for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it is vital to understand how the disease spreads. In this study, we address the modeling of COVID-19 spread across space and time, which facilitates understanding of the pandemic. We propose a hybrid data-driven learning approach to capture the mobility-related spreading mechanism of infectious diseases, utilizing multi-sourced mobility and attributed data. This study develops a visual analytic approach that identifies and depicts the strength of the transmission pathways of COVID-19 between areal units by integrating data-driven deep learning and compartmental epidemic models, thereby engaging stakeholders (e.g., public health officials, managers from transportation agencies) to make informed intervention decisions and enable public messaging. A case study in the state of Colorado, USA was performed to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed transmission modeling approach in understanding the spatio-temporal spread of COVID-19 at the neighborhood level. Transmission path maps are presented and analyzed, demonstrating their utility in evaluating the effects of mitigation measures. In addition, integrated embeddings also support daily prediction of infected cases and role analysis of each area unit during the transmission of the virus. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Today, participation in social investment is a critical concern of urban management in metropolitan areas. To be effective in both public and private sectors, such participation requires an accurate knowledge of geographical distribution of resources and social needs in different parts of the city in order to better manage these investments. To this end, the present research aimed at providing an objective and tangible integrated approach to identify urban neighborhoods with high potential for social investment. The research area was neighborhoods located in Mashhad, Iran. Thirty-one criteria in three dimensions of empowerment, education, and culture were identified. Having determined, normalized, and weighted the values of each criteria in different neighborhoods using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method, the weight scores of each neighborhood in each dimension were added up by GIS approach and Arc GIS 10.1 software. Then, in order to conclude the overall status of social investment in different neighborhoods, a fuzzy inference system (FIS) was designed in the MATLAB 2014a environment according to experts’ opinions. Finally, based on the output of the designed system, the overall status of each neighborhood studied was determined in terms of social investment and neighborhoods with high potential for social investment were identified. The approach presented provides an insight for urban mangers, companies, and philanthropic investors to invest more effectively given the appropriate social investment opportunities. [Termes IGN] ville intelligenteRésumé : (auteur) This paper explores the link between the current vision of the “smart city” and the notion of urban autopoiesis understood as self-organized/managed urban systems. It seeks to highlight how the use of GIS analysis, applied to the study of informal settlements, can provide useful information to understand the smart city paradigm. The paper argues the key idea that a smart city should not be seen only as a high-tech urban environment because the transition to smartness will need major changes in its inner structure. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative GIS analysis methods, this study examines the case of the BaSECo Compound, one of the densest informal settlements in Metro Manila (Philippines), with the aim of both generating a comprehensive morphological analysis of this dynamic urban area as well as contributing to the configurational theory of the smart city. The results suggest that the analysis of autopoietic urban systems could expand our understanding of how the structure of the city could evolve to accommodate the needs of its citizens and creating more resilient and inclusive communities.
