[Termes IGN] transformation non linéaireRésumé : (Auteur) A new approach to relative orientation based on dual quaternions is proposed. Dual quaternions are used to express a unified description of the relative position and orientation of two images in a stereopair. The coplanarity condition equation and its linearised model based on dual quaternions are established. According to the principle of least squares adjustment with constraints, a dual quaternion can be identified and the relative-orientation parameters can then be obtained by a non-linear transformation of the components of the dual quaternion. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is feasible and more reliable and efficient than the conventional approach based on Euler angles. [Termes IGN] transformation linéaire directeRésumé : (auteur) This paper introduces three quaternion-based approaches to solve the SPR problem. The first two are based on projective transformation and DLT coefficients through which the position of the perspective center is derived first using four or more planar and six or more non-planar object points, respectively. The rotation matrix is then directly estimated using quaternions. The third one (quaternion-based general approach) can handle three or more points in either planar or non-planar configuration. In this approach, the rotation angles are iteratively estimated first using quaternions without the need for user-defined approximations. Then, the position of the perspective center is directly derived. Experimental results show the feasibility of the proposed approaches and the high accuracy of the quaternion-based general approach, which is superior to the state-of-the-art non-iterative method and does not deviate more than 1 percent from the traditional non-linear SPR, i.e., the de-facto standard for the most accurate SPR solution. [Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper briefly introduces quaternions to represent rotation parameters and then derives the formulae to compute quaternion, translation and scale parameters in the Bursa–Wolf geodetic datum transformation model from two sets of co-located 3D coordinates. The main advantage of this representation is that linearization and iteration are not needed for the computation of the datum transformation parameters. We further extend the formulae to compute quaternion-based datum transformation parameters under constraints such as the distance between two fixed stations, and develop the corresponding iteration algorithm. Finally, two numerical case studies are presented to demonstrate the applications of the derived formulae.
