The methodology has two main steps: object based image analysis (OBIA) and multi-agent object recognition. In the first step, segmentation and multi-process object classification based on spectral, textura, and structural features are performed. Classified regions are used as an input dataset in the multi-agent system in order to modify object recognition results. According to the results from the object based image analysis process, using contextual relations and structural features, the overall accuracy and Kappa improved by 17.79 percent and 0.253, respectively. Using knowledge-based reasoning and cooperative capabilities of agents in the multi-agent system in this paper most of the remaining difficulties are decreased and values 90.95 percent and 0.876 are obtained for the overall accuracy and Kappa, respectively, of the object recognition results. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a method for object detection with sub-pixel accuracy in digital images satisfying real-time applications. The method uses an approximation of the level-set-based contour evolution, which applies only integer operations in a fast two-cycle algorithm to achieve real-time performance. Level-set-based contour evolution forms a part of the geometric active contour process, which combines image data and a priori geometric knowledge of an object to be evolved over an image towards the object border. The algorithm avoids the solution of partial differential equations. Instead only integer operations are applied and the contour evolution is performed by using a two-cycle algorithm. The proposed method for object detection with sub-pixel accuracy refines the pixel-accurate result of the level-set-based contour evolution algorithm by using a fast parabolic fitting mechanism. Sub-pixel accuracy of the resulting object contours is achieved by adjusting every contour point towards the nearby maximum of the image gradient. Real-time performance can be provided because the adjustment is performed only once after the contour evolution. Experimental results with images from industry, photogrammetry, remote sensing and medicine show the functionality and applicability of this method to several fields of work. In addition, the experiments are evaluated by applying quality measures for the geometric accuracy and the run time. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents three methods for representing spatial properties of geographic entity types in order to retrieve digital aerial photographs that contain these types. The three methods are semivariogram, edge tracing and an integration of the two methods. The first two methods are used to represent spatial continuity and spatial discontinuity information, respectively, associated with geographic entities, while the integrated method is used to represent both properties. The three methods are used to retrieve seven land cover types; factories, shopping centres, highways, forest, farmland, grasses and residential areas. Results show that between the two independent methods, the semivariogram method generally produces higher retrieval precision and more consistency across the seven types than the edge tracing method. The integrated method considerably outperforms the two independent methods. We aim at generating a road sign database that can be used for both georeferencing in autonomous vehicle navigation systems and also in high scale 3D city modelling. This paper proposes a robust algorithm that can detect road signs shape and recognizes their types.
