L’acquisition d’images avec un smartphone permet de reconstruire en 3D une fouille ouverte grâce aux algorithmes de photogrammétrie par corrélation dense. Les enjeux de fiabilité et d’industrialisation pour ce type de production de données nous ont poussés à améliorer une méthode d’acquisition préexistante. L’étude menée ici vise principalement à déterminer la meilleure technique de captation d’images. Les éléments clés de la réussite de la méthode reposent sur 1. L’utilisation de marqueurs dimensionnels à travers la pose des balises et 2. La détection de ces marqueurs dans les images via des algorithmes basés sur de l’Intelligence Artificielle. Les données 3D produites et accessibles via un portail web permettent de dessiner les infrastructures existantes en réduisant le plus possible l’intervention humaine. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) Applications in smart cities are inseparable from the usage of three-dimensional (3D) building models. However, the cost of generating and constructing 3D building models with semantic information is high both in time and in labour. To solve this problem, we developed a web-based interactive system, VGI3D, with the ambition of becoming a VGI platform to collect 3D building models with semantic information by using the power of crowdsourcing. VGI3D is a platform-independent software program that is composed of a spatially relational database (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) for the storage and management of spatially geometrical data and other software modules, allowing users to import, analyse, reconstruct, visualise, modify and export 3D building models according to the OBJ/CityGML standard. In this paper, we present the VGI3D in detail, focusing on relevant technical implementations, and report the results of limited usability testing aimed at optimising the system and user experience. After limited expert and non-expert participants’ testing, we proved the usefulness of VGI3D and its promising value for the 3D modelling community. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) The 3D reconstruction of objects is a prerequisite for many highly relevant applications of computer vision such as mobile robotics or autonomous driving. To deal with the inverse problem of reconstructing 3D objects from their 2D projections, a common strategy is to incorporate prior object knowledge into the reconstruction approach by establishing a 3D model and aligning it to the 2D image plane. However, current approaches are limited due to inadequate shape priors and the insufficiency of the derived image observations for a reliable alignment with the 3D model. The goal of this paper is to show how 3D object reconstruction can profit from a more sophisticated shape prior and from a combined incorporation of different observation types inferred from the images. We introduce a subcategory-aware deformable vehicle model that makes use of a prediction of the vehicle type for a more appropriate regularisation of the vehicle shape. A multi-branch CNN is presented to derive predictions of the vehicle type and orientation. This information is also introduced as prior information for model fitting. Furthermore, the CNN extracts vehicle keypoints and wireframes, which are well-suited for model-to-image association and model fitting. The task of pose estimation and reconstruction is addressed by a versatile probabilistic model. Extensive experiments are conducted using two challenging real-world data sets on both of which the benefit of the developed shape prior can be shown. A comparison to state-of-the-art methods for vehicle pose estimation shows that the proposed approach performs on par or better, confirming the suitability of the developed shape prior and probabilistic model for vehicle reconstruction. [Termes IGN] tunnelRésumé : (auteur) This paper introduces an original method for modelling in 3D the full tube (both vault and canal) of navigable tunnels using data acquired dynamically from a boat. The recording system is composed of cameras that provide images of the vault and a multibeam echo sounder that acquires 3D profiles underwater. Reconstructing partially submerged structures, in a confined environment where no global positioning system signal is available, is challenging. The method exploits the capabilities of photogrammetry, not only to reconstruct the tunnel vault, but also to estimate the trajectory of the vessel, which is necessary to rearrange sonar profiles and form the 3D model of the canal. The comparison of a model reconstructed from in situ dynamic acquisitions with a reference one, obtained from static laser and sonar acquisitions, shows that the accuracy is of the order of a centimetre for the vault, while it is decimetric for underwater features. [Termes IGN] trajectoire (véhicule non spatial)Résumé : (auteur) Terrestrial close-range photogrammetry offers a low-cost method of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of forest stands that provides automatically processable 3D data that can be used to evaluate inventory parameters of forest stands and individual trees. However, fundamental methodological problems in image acquisition and processing remain. This study enhances the methodology of photogrammetric Structure from Motion reconstruction of forest stands by determining the best photographer's trajectory for image acquisition. The study comprises 1) mathematical optimization of the route in a square grid using integer programming, 2) evaluation of point clouds derived from sequences of real photographs, simulating different trajectories, and 3) verification on real trajectories. In a forest research plot, we established a 1 m square grid of 625 (i.e., 25 × 25) photographic positions, and at each position, we captured 16 photographs in uniformly spaced directions. We adopted real tree positions and diameters, and the coordinates of the photographic positions, including orientation angles of captured images, were recorded. We then formulated an integer programming optimization model to find the most efficient trajectory that provided coverage of all sides of all trees with sufficient counts of images. Subsequently, we used the 10,000 captured images to produce image subsets simulating image sequences acquired during the photographer's movement along 84 different systematic trajectories of seven patterns based on either parallel lines or concentric orbits. 3D point clouds derived from the simulated image sequences were evaluated for their suitability for automatic tree detection and estimation of diameters at breast height. The results of the integer programming model indicated that the optimal trajectory consisted of parallel line segments if the camera is pointed forward – in the travel direction, or concentric orbits if the camera is pointed to a side – perpendicular to the travel direction. With point clouds derived from the images of the simulated trajectories, the best diameter estimates on automatically detected trees were achieved with trajectories consisting of parallel lines in two perpendicular directions where each line was passed in both opposite directions. For efficient image acquisition, resulting in point clouds of reasonable quality with low counts of images, a trajectory consisting of concentric orbits, including the plot perimeter with the camera pointed towards the plot center, proved to be the best. Results of simulated trajectories were verified with the photogrammetric reconstruction of the forest stand based on real trajectories for six patterns. The mathematical optimization was consistent with the results of the experiment, which indicated that mathematical optimization may represent a valid tool for planning trajectories for photogrammetric 3D reconstruction of scenes in general.
