[Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Auteur) La réflectrométrie GNSS (GNSS-R) est une famille de techniques de traitement des signaux GNSS qui consistent en une utilisation opportuniste des signaux GNSS réfléchis, plus communément appelés multi-trajets et généralement considérés comme des perturbations. Ces applications permettent de déterminer des attributs géométriques ou d'autres propriétés des surfaces réfléchissantes. Si l'on s'intéresse à l'aspect géométrique et que la surface est un plan d'eau, le récepteur GNSS devient alors un limnimètre.L'objectif de cette recherche était d'examiner dans quelle mesure ce principe de limnimétrie par GNSS-R pourrait être employé avec du matériel GNSS à faible coût. A cet effet, une expérience d'acquisition de données a été menée et un algorithme de traitement basé sur l'emploi des triples différences a été développé. [Termes IGN] réflectance de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an improved Dark Dense Vegetation (DDV) method for retrieving 500 m-resolution aerosol optical depth (AOT) based on MOD04-C005 arithmetic with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The improvements include change of the movement pattern of retrieval window, selection of a more suitable aerosol type, and storage of the look-up table. The method is then applied to obtain the AOT over the Pearl River Delta region (PRD). By comparing the results with the co-temporal ground sunphotometer observations in 2010, the correlation coefficient is found to be 0.794 with RMSE 0.139 and their variations remain consistent. Contrasts between model values in 2008 and MODIS AOT products in the same date also reveal a high accuracy of the improved DDV method. We also performed sensitivity tests to analyze the impacts of several parameters on apparent reflectance at different bands, and the results show that apparent reflectance is much more sensitive to surface reflectance and AOT than to elevation. Directional relations are ambiguous if taken alone without the contextual information described by frames of reference. In this paper, we identify a unifying framework for directional relations and frames of reference, which shows how a directional relation with its associated frame of reference can be mapped to a projective relation of the 5-intersection model. We discuss how this knowledge can be integrated in spatial query languages. [Termes IGN] Saccharum officinarumRésumé : (Auteur) There is great potential for the development of remote sensing methods that integrate and exploit both multispectral and multitemporal information. This paper presents a new image processing method: Spectral–Temporal Analysis by Response Surface (STARS), which synthesizes the full information content of a multitemporal–multispectral remote sensing image data set to represent the spectral variation over time of features on the Earth's surface. Depending on the application, STARS can be effectively implemented using a range of different models [e.g., polynomial trend surface (PTS) and collocation surface (CS)], exploiting data from different sensors, with varying spectral wavebands and acquiring data at irregular time intervals. A case study was used to test STARS, evaluating its potential to characterize sugarcane harvest practices in Brazil, specifically with and without preharvest straw burning. Although the CS model presented sharper and more defined spectral–temporal surfaces, abrupt changes related to the sugarcane harvest event were also well characterized with the PTS model when a suitable degree was set. Orthonormal coefficients were tested for both the PTS and CS models and performed more accurately than regular coefficients when used as input for three evaluated classifiers: instance based, decision tree, and neural network. Results show that STARS holds considerable potential for representing the spectral changes over time of features on the Earth's surface, thus becoming an effective image processing method, which is useful not only for classification purposes but also for other applications such as understanding land-cover change. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) A terrestrial laser scanner measures the distance to an object surface with a precision in the order of millimeters. The quality of the individual points in a point cloud, although directly affecting standard processing steps like point cloud registration and segmentation, is still not well understood. The quality of a scan point is influenced by four major factors: instrument mechanism, atmospheric conditions, object surface properties and scan geometry. In this paper, the influence of the scan geometry on the individual point precision or local measurement noise is considered. The local scan geometry depends on the distance and the orientation of the scanned surface, relative to the position of the scanner. The local scan geometry is parameterized by two main parameters, the range, i.e. the distance from the object to the scanner and the incidence angle, i.e. the angle between incoming laser beam and the local surface normal. In this paper, it is shown that by studying the influence of the local scan geometry on the signal to noise ratio, the dependence of the measurement noise on range and incidence angle can be successfully modeled if planar surfaces are observed. The implications of this model is demonstrated further by comparing two point clouds of a small room, obtained from two different scanner positions: a center position and a corner position. The influence of incidence angle on the noise level is quantified on scans of this room, and by moving the scanner by 2 m, it is reduced by 20%. The improvement of the standard deviation is significant, going from 3.23 to 2.55 mm. It is possible to optimize measurement setups in such a way that the measurement noise due to bad scanning geometry is minimized and therefore contribute to a more efficient acquisition of point clouds of better quality.
