[Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Long term GNSS observations provided by networks of the continuously operating reference stations (CORS) allow for determination of the global and local tectonic plate movements and seasonal variations. In recent years, PPP (Precise Point Positioning) technique has become increasingly popular and most likely in the future will replace relative positioning with CORS stations. In this paper, we discuss the difference of the velocity and seasonal component estimates of 25 Latvian CORS stations on the basis of daily PPP solutions from the Nevada Geodetic Laboratory and double-difference solutions from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of the University of Latvia. Time series of each coordinate component for 9-year time period were determined by the usage of the Tsview software and seasonal existence of linear, annual, semi-annual factors and their uncertainties were determined. Breaks (e. g., antenna and receiver changes) were also taken into account. We then assessed the noise characteristics of these time series with the use of overlapping Hadamard variance (OHVAR). The result shows that OHVAR is computationally cheap, and the dominating power-law noise, including flicker and random walk. However Hadamard deviation of the PPP and double-difference solutions scatters differently for a whole year averaging time due to the different GNSS data strategies. [Termes descripteurs IGN] teneur intégrée en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) In the framework of the EUREC4A (Elucidating the role of clouds-circulation coupling in climate) campaign that took place in January and February 2020, integrated water vapour (IWV) contents were retrieved over the open Tropical Atlantic Ocean using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) data acquired from three research vessels (R/Vs): R/V Atalante, R/V Maria S. Merian, and R/V Meteor. This paper describes the GNSS processing method and compares the GNSS IWV retrievals with IWV estimates from the European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) fifth ReAnalysis (ERA5), from the Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) infra-red products, and from terrestrial GNSS stations located along the tracks of the ships. The ship-borne GNSS IWVs retrievals from R/V Atalante and R/V Meteor compare well with ERA5, with small biases (−1.62 kg m−2 for R/V Atalante and +0.65 kg m−2 for R/V Meteor) and a root mean square (RMS) difference about 2.3 kg m−2. The results for the R/V Maria S. Merian are found to be of poorer quality, with RMS difference of 6 kg m−2 which are very likely due to the location of the GNSS antenna on this R/V prone to multipath effects. The comparisons with ground-based GNSS data confirm these results. The comparisons of all three R/V IWV retrievals with MODIS infrared product show large RMS differences of 5–7 kg m−2, reflecting the enhanced uncertainties of this satellite product in the tropics. These ship-borne IWV retrievals are intended to be used for the description and understanding of meteorological phenomena that occurred during the campaign, east of Barbados, Guyana and northern Brazil. This work is motivated by the analysis of long series of GNSS Integrated Water Vapour (IWV) data which have not yet been used in this context. This paper proposes a novel segmentation method that integrates a periodic bias and a heterogeneous, monthly varying, variance. The method consists in estimating first the variance using a robust estimator and then estimating the segmentation and periodic bias iteratively. This strategy allows for the use of the dynamic programming algorithm that remains the most efficient exact algorithm to estimate the change-point positions. The statistical performance of the method is assessed through numerical experiments. An application to a real data set of 120 global GNSS stations is presented. The method is implemented in the R package GNSSseg that will be available on the CRAN. [Termes descripteurs IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) This research aims to analyze variation in a time series of Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV time series) using data at 11 widely-distributed Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) in Thailand. In this paper, the PWV time series is estimated based on data from 2007 to 2015, used to monitor trends and seasonal variations. Significant annual variations of PWV are found at all GNSS stations, with amplitude from 6 to 19 kg/m2. The variations between the annual amplitudes of PWV in the South and near the ocean coasts are generally smaller than in the inland regions. The phase shift of annual PWV variation is about −0.43 (around July, rainy season). The comparison of PWV and 24-hour cumulative rainfall data showed that the rainy season (running from around mid-May to the end of October) exhibits the slightest swing, and the highest average amount of PWV. These results are consistent with the 24-hour cumulative rainfall data. [Termes descripteurs IGN] système de référence localRésumé : (auteur) The use of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) enables surveyors to differentially correct static Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements. CORS are designed to support the broad spectrum of post-processed, relative GPS techniques, and applications. Enhancing geospatial positioning applications of CORS data involves the critical role in defining the nation’s geodetic reference system. With the establishment of a coordinated system of CORS, an Online Positioning User Service can become available for processing in single positioning mode to provide corresponding accurate and homogeneous positional coordinates. The Survey and Mapping Division (SMD), Lands Commission of Ghana, has established four CORS in the Greater Accra, and Ashanti, Western and Brong-Ahafo Regions, respectively, to provide a basic CORS network in accordance with the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). However, most surveyors continue to reference their works in these regions to ground survey beacons that have been coordinated and adjusted by variable survey methods. This obviously makes homogeneity of data unpredictable. This study explored the extent of usage of existing CORS network established by SMD with particular focus on the CORS in the Greater Accra Region for GPS surveys and to determine its usefulness in ensuring homogeneity in GPS data collection. The professional participatory (interviews) technique was coupled with differential GPS field observations with the CORS as reference in one case and ground control stations as reference in the other in making relatively conclusive analysis. Test results showed that GPS field survey of an approximate range of 23 km away from the Accra CORS yielded an average positional change in Northings and Eastings of − 0.790 m, − 0.176 m and − 0.681 m, − 0.098 m for single and dual frequency, respectively, in different localities within the study area. Beyond a range of 25 km from the Accra CORS, the average positional change in Northings and Eastings are − 0.536 m, − 0.007 m and − 1.370 m, 0.334 m for single and dual frequency respectively. Of 128 geomatic professionals interviewed, 39% are aware of the availability of COR stations in Greater Accra, 61% are unaware, and 28% are aware and users of the Accra CORS whereas 11% are aware but non-users of the Accra COR station. Of all users sampled, 17.5% are regular and frequent users of the Accra COR station and 10.5% are occasional or seldom users. The results show that the Accra CORS is vital to ensuring a uniform homogenous GPS data. However, very few people are using it due to low public awareness of the usefulness of the CORS among professional surveyors and other users and a cumbersome, bureaucratic nature in CORS data acquisition for post-processing and RTK GPS surveys.
