[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a novel linear registration algorithm for lidar point clouds and aerial images without orientation parameters. First, preprocessing is conducted to classify the lidar point clouds into ground points, building points, and aboveground, non-building points. After preprocessing, the algorithm consists of two sequential steps, i.e., Tilt Displacement Correction and Height Displacement Correction. As the kernel of the proposed registration algorithm, the mathematical model for Height Displacement Correction is a set of linear formulas analytically deduced from the rigorous geometric function of a single image. The proposed registration algorithm does not require any orientation parameters for the image, which greatly lowers the requirements for image acquisition. Due to the model's linearity, the proposed algorithm is computationally efficient. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can register aerial images without orientation parameters at the same accuracy level of space resection based on collinear equations. This result fulfills the requirement for the fusion of lidar range data and aerial images in most large-scale urban modeling applications. [Termes IGN] superposition de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) We propose two algorithms to match edges in a geometrically imprecise graph to geometrically precise strong boundaries in an image, where the graph is meant to give an a priori partition of the image into objects. This can be used to partition an image into objects described by imprecise external data and, thus, to simplify the segmentation problem. We apply them to the problem of registering cadastre data to georeferenced aerial images, thus correcting the lack of geometrical detail of the cadastre data and the fact that cadastre data gives information of a different nature than that found in images (fiscal information as opposed to actual land use). [Termes IGN] superposition de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Surface measurement of complex geometric objects by means of optical techniques, such as laser scanning or photogrammetry, requires multiple views from various stations. The data sets of the views, e.g. point clouds and photogrammetric images, are given in individual coordinate systems. For a complete representation of the objects, the views have to be transformed into one common coordinate system. This task is denoted as registration and involves an estimation of the transformation parameters between different coordinate systems. In this paper, a concept for a pairwise feature based registration of hybrid laser scanner data sets is proposed. The concept includes the feature extraction and description by simultaneous consideration of laser scanner data and photogrammetric images, as well as the recognition of consistent feature correspondences. The features are viewpoint invariant and are described with a rectified image patch on planar surface geometry in object space. Two different data sets are used to demonstrate that the proposed concept for feature extraction, feature description and correspondence search is successful to register hybrid laser scanner data sets with a high level of automation. [Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Point cloud acquisition by using laser scanners provides an efficient way for 3D as-built modelling of industrial installations. Covering such an installation with point cloud data often requires data acquisition from multiple standpoints. Before the actual modelling can start the transformation parameters of all scans need to be determined. Two methods to register point clouds of industrial scenes with different coordinate definitions are presented. Corresponding object models in different scans are used to determine the translation and rotation parameters of the scans. The first method, called Indirect method, is a two-step approach as object fitting and registration of the scenes is done separately. The second method, called Direct method simultaneously determines the shape and pose parameters of the objects as well as the registration parameters. Both methods are designed such that optimal use can be made of the knowledge of shapes present in industrial environments. Compared to ICP the presented approach combines registration and modelling and thus avoids the accumulation of errors. Furthermore, the simultaneous registration of multiple scans is possible. The presented approaches are based on non-linear least squares and provide quality measures in the form of covariance matrix of the estimated parameters, which can be used to decide if more scans are needed, and how and where they should be captured. Results are presented on some point cloud data-sets from actual industrial sites, where registration was done without using any artificial targets.
