[Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) GNSS meteorology is today one of the most growing technologies to monitor severe weather events. In this paper, we present the usage of 160 GPS reference stations over the period of 14 days to monitor and track Hurricane Harvey, which struck Texas in August 2017. We estimate the Zenith Wet Delay (ZWD) and the tropospheric gradients with 30 s interval using TOMION v2 software and carry out the processing in Precise Point Positioning (PPP) mode. We study the relationship of these parameters with atmospheric variables extracted from Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite mission and climate reanalysis model ERA5. This research finds that the ZWD shows patterns related to the rainfall rate and to the location of the hurricane. We also find that the tropospheric gradients are correlated with water vapor gradients before and after the hurricane, and with the wind and the pressure gradients only after the hurricane. This study also shows a new finding regarding the spectral distribution of the gradients, with a clear diurnal period present, which is also found on the ZWD itself. This kind of study approaches the GNSS meteorology to the increasing requirements of meteorologist in terms of monitoring severe weather events. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) Precipitable water vapor (PWV) can be assimilated into a numerical weather model (NWM) to improve the prediction accuracy of numerical weather prediction. In this study, taking GNSS data for the Beijing Fangshan station (BJFS) as an example, based on the method of Pearson correlation coefficient combined with quantitative analysis, GNSS datasets are used to study the relationships between GNSS-derived PWV (GNSS PWV_Met) and its influencing factors, including the internal influencing factors zenith troposphere delay (ZTD), zenith hydrostatic delay (ZHD), zenith wet delay (ZWD), and surface temperature (Ts), and the external influencing factor haze (mainly PM2.5). Firstly, based on the strong correlation between PWV_Met and ZTD hourly sequences from the International GNSS Service Network’s BJFS station for DOYS 182–212, 2015, the results of experiment prove that the reliability of GNSS ZTD is used to forecast PWV_Met in short-term forecasting. Secondly, based on hourly data of BJFS in 2016, the correlation between PWV_Met and ZTD, ZWD, ZHD, pressure (P) and Ts is analyzed, and then, with the rate of ZTD variation as the main factor, ZTD variation as auxiliary factor, the prediction success rate is 88.24% from hourly data of precipitation event for DOYs 183–213 in Beijing. The experiment indicates that ZTD can help forecast short-term precipitation. Thirdly, based on data from three hazy periods with relatively stable weather conditions, no heavy rainfall, and relatively continuous data in the past three years, the correlation between GNSS PWV_Met/ZTD and PM2.5 hourly series is analyzed. The results of the experiments suggests that GNSS ZTD should be considered to assist in haze monitoring. So in the absence of radiosonde stations and meteorological elements, ZTDs on retrieval of GNSS stations have more application value in short-term forecast. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (Auteur) The occurrence of drought is related to complicated interactions between many factors, such as precipitation, temperature, evapotranspiration and vegetation. In this study, the relationships between drought and precipitation, temperature, vegetation and evapotranspiration were investigated with a random forest (RF), and a new combined drought monitoring index (CDMI) was constructed. The effectiveness of the CDMI in monitoring drought in Shaanxi Province was verified by the in situ 1 ∼ 12-month standardized precipitation index (SPI); relative soil moisture (RSM) and four other commonly used remote sensing drought monitoring indices. The results show that CDMI is more correlated with the SPI and RSM than the four indices. Moreover, the spatial distributions of drought for the CDMI and RSM are similar. Therefore, the CDMI can be used to monitor droughts in Shaanxi Province, and machine learning can explore the relationships between various factors and establish a drought index without knowledge of the causal mechanisms of these factors. [Termes IGN] teneur intégrée en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) There has been growing interest in recent years in the use of homogeneously reprocessed ground-based GNSS, VLBI, and DORIS measurements for climate applications. Existing datasets are reviewed and the sensitivity of tropospheric estimates to the processing details is discussed. The uncertainty in the derived IWV estimates and linear trends is around 1 kg m−2 RMS and ± 0.3 kg m−2 per decade, respectively. Standardized methods for ZTD outlier detection and IWV conversion are proposed. The homogeneity of final time series is limited however by changes in the stations equipment and environment. Various homogenization algorithms have been evaluated based on a synthetic benchmark dataset. The uncertainty of trends estimated from the homogenized times series is estimated to ±0.5 kg m−2 per decade. Reprocessed GNSS IWV data are analysed along with satellites data, reanalyses and global and regional climate model simulations. A selection of global and regional reprocessed GNSS datasets and ERA-interim reanalysis are made available through the GOP-TropDB tropospheric database and online service. A new tropo SINEX format, providing new features and simplifications, was developed and it is going to be adopted by all the IAG services. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Editeur) [Introduction] The book (COST Action Final report) summarises the proceedings from COST Action ES1206. COST Action ES1206, Advanced GNSS Tropospheric Products for Severe Weather Events and Climate (GNSS4SWEC), was a 4-year project, running from 2013 to 2017, which coordinated new and improved capabilities from concurrent developments in GNSS, meteorological and climate communities. For the first time, the synergy of multi-GNSS constellations was used to develop new, more advanced tropospheric products, exploiting the full potential of multi-GNSS on a wide range of temporal and spatial scales - from real-time products monitoring and forecasting severe weather, to the highest quality post-processed products suitable for climate research. The Action also promoted the use of meteorological data as an input to real-time GNSS positioning, navigation, and timing services and has stimulated knowledge and data transfer throughout Europe and beyond.
