[Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (Editeur) [Préface] In recent years, an increasing amount of spatial data has been collected by different types of devices, such as mobile phones, sensors, satellites, space telescope, and medical tools for analysis, or is generated by social networks, such as geotagged tweets. The processing of this huge amount of information, including spatial properties, which are frequently represented in heterogeneous ways, is a challenging task that has boosted research in the big data area in an attempt to investigate cases and propose new solutions for dealing with its peculiarities. In the literature, many different proposals and approaches for facing the problem have been proposed, addressing different goals and different types of users. However, most are obtained by customizing existing approaches which were originally developed for the processing of big data of the alphanumeric type, without any specific support for spatial or spatiotemporal properties. Thus, the proposed solutions can exploit the parallelism provided by these kinds of systems, but without taking into account, in a proficient way, the space and time dimensions that intrinsically characterize the analyzed datasets. As described in the literature, current solutions include: (i) the on-top approach, where an underlying system for traditional big datasets is used as a black box while spatial processing is added through the definition of user-defined functions that are specified on top of the underlying system; (ii) the from-scratch approach, where a completely new system is implemented for a specific application context; and (iii) the built-in approach, where an existing solution is extended by injecting spatial data functions into its core. This book aims at promoting new and innovative studies, proposing new architectures or innovative evolutions of existing ones, and illustrating experiments on current technologies in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of distributed and cluster systems when they deal with spatiotemporal data. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) OpenStreetMap (OSM) provides free source data for land use and land cover (LULC) mapping of many regions globally. Earlier work has used just manual and subjective approaches to establish correspondence between paired OSM and reference datasets, an essential step for LULC mapping. This study proposes an approach to establish correspondence via three steps: (1) convert line feature(s) into polygon feature(s); (2) merge multiple polygon feature(s) into a single layer; and (3) establish correspondence and reclassify OSM and/or reference datasets. Study areas in Sheffield, London, Rome, and Paris were used for testing, and two measures (overall accuracy, OA and kappa index) were used for evaluation. Experiments were designed to verify this approach, with each pair of OSM and reference datasets initially compared after reclassification. Correspondence from one study area was then applied to another for further validation. Results show that OA was between 70 and 90% and the kappa index varied between 0.6 and 0.8. Evaluation also indicates that the correspondence obtained from one study area is applicable to another, and we illustrate the effectiveness of this approach. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) Volunteered geographic information (VGI) is crowdsourced information that can enrich and enhance research and applications based on geo-referenced data. However, the quality of VGI is of great concern, and positional accuracy is a fundamental basis for the VGI quality assurance. A buffer-zone method can be used for its assessment, but the buffer radius in this technique is subjectively specified; as result, different selections of the buffer radius lead to different positional accuracies. To solve this problem, a statistically defined buffer zone for the positional accuracy assessment in VGI is proposed in this study. To facilitate practical applications, we have also developed an iterative method to obtain a theoretically defined buffer zone. In addition to the positional accuracy assessment, we have derived a measure of positional quality, which comprises the assessment of positional accuracy and the level of confidence in such assessment determined with respect to a statistically defined buffer zone. To illustrate and substantiate the theoretical arguments, both numerical simulations and real-life experiments are performed using OpenStreetMap. The experimental results confirm the high significance of the proposed statistical approach to the buffer zone-based assessment of the positional uncertainty in VGI. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) With the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and global navigation satellite system (GNSS), the accurate camera positions at exposure can be known and the GNSS-assisted bundle block adjustment (BBA) approach is possible for integrated sensor orientation (ISO). This study employed ISO approach for camera pose determination with the objective of investigating the impact of a good sensor pre-calibration on a poor acquisition geometry. Within the presented works, several flights were conducted on a dike by a small UAV embedded with a metric camera and a GNSS receiver. The multi-lever-arm estimation within the BBA procedure makes it possible to merge image blocks of different configurations such as nadir and oblique images without physical constraints on camera and GNSS antenna positions. The merged image block achieves a better accuracy and the sensor self-calibrated well. The issued sensor calibration is then applied to a less preferable acquisition configuration and the accuracy is significantly improved. For a corridor acquisition scene of about 600 m , a centimetric accuracy is reached with one GCP. With the provided sensor pre-calibration, an accuracy of 3.9 cm is achieved without any GCP. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) Avec le développement des véhicules aériens sans pilote (UAV) et du système de positionnement par satellites (GNSS), les positions précises de la caméra à l’exposition peuvent être connues et l’approche ajustement de faisceau (BBA) assisté par GNSS est devenue possible pour l’orientation des images. L’estimation de multiples bras de levier dans la procédure BBA permet de fusionner des blocs d’images de différentes configurations telle que des images nadir et obliques et ainsi obtenir une meilleure précision. En raison du coût substantiel de l’établissement d’un réseau de points d’appui (GCP), un nombre minimal de GCPs est attendu tout en maintenant la précision. En ajoutant un bloc d’images oblique au bloc d’images nadir ou en fusionnant des blocs d’images nadir de différentes hauteurs de vol, une précision de ∼ 5 cm est atteinte sans GCP sur une scène d’acquisition corridor de ∼ 600 m. Cette précision est également obtenue avec uniquement un bloc d’images nadir en fournissant une bonne calibration a priori de la caméra. Avec un GCP au milieu du bloc d’images, la précision verticale est significativement améliorée et une précision de ∼ 1.0 cm est atteinte.
