[Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) GNSS observations stochastic model influences all subsequent stages of data processing, from the possibility to reach the optimal parameters estimation, to the reliability and quality control of the solution. Nowadays, an uncontrolled use of GNSS stochastic models is common for both data processing and simulation missions, especially in commercial GNSS software packages. As a result, the variance–covariance matrices that are derived in the processing are inadequate and cause incorrect interpretations of the results. A proper method to evaluate the reliability of the stochastic model is needed to reflect the confidence level in statistic testing and simulation mission efforts. In this contribution, a novel method for evaluating the statistical nature of GNSS stochastic model is presented. The method relies on the deterministic nature of the integer ambiguity variable to examine and express the expected multinormal distribution of the double-difference adjustment results. The suggested method was used with a controlled experiment and 24 h of observations data to investigate how the statistical nature of the stochastic model is affected by different baseline lengths. The results indicate that as the baseline length increases, the stochastic model is less predictable and exposed to irregularities in the observation’s precision. Additionally, the reliability of the integer ambiguity resolution success rate (SR) was tested as part of the stochastic model evaluation. The results show a dramatic degradation in the SR prediction level when using an inadequate stochastic model, which suggests using extra caution when handling this parameter unless high-confidence reliable stochastic model is available. [Termes IGN] test statistiqueRésumé : (auteur) High-resolution remote sensing (HRRS) image scene classification has attracted an enormous amount of attention due to its wide application in a range of tasks. Due to the rapid development of deep learning (DL), models based on convolutional neural network (CNN) have made competitive achievements on HRRS image scene classification because of the excellent representation capacity of DL. The scene labels of HRRS images extremely depend on the combination of global information and information from key regions or locations. However, most existing models based on CNN tend only to represent the global features of images or overstate local information capturing from key regions or locations, which may confuse different categories. To address this issue, a key region or location capturing method called key filter bank (KFB) is proposed in this article, and KFB can retain global information at the same time. This method can combine with different CNN models to improve the performance of HRRS imagery scene classification. Moreover, for the convenience of practical tasks, an end-to-end model called KFBNet where KFB combined with DenseNet-121 is proposed to compare the performance with existing models. This model is evaluated on public benchmark data sets, and the proposed model makes better performance on benchmarks than the state-of-the-art methods. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) This research is motivated by the widespread use of desktop environments in the lab and by the recent trend of conducting real-world eye-tracking experiments to investigate pedestrian navigation. Despite the existing significant differences between the real world and the desktop environments, how pedestrians’ visual behavior in real environments differs from that in desktop environments is still not well understood. Here, we report a study that recorded eye movements for a total of 82 participants while they were performing five common navigation tasks in an unfamiliar urban environment (N = 39) and in a desktop environment (N = 43). By analyzing where the participants allocated their visual attention, what objects they fixated on, and how they transferred their visual attention among objects during navigation, we found similarities and significant differences in the general fixation indicators, spatial fixation distributions and attention to the objects of interest. The results contribute to the ongoing debate over the validity of using desktop environments to investigate pedestrian navigation by providing insights into how pedestrians allocate their attention to visual stimuli to accomplish navigation tasks in the two environments. However, the mapping quality is not intuitively predictable, particularly in complex environments (with steep and cluttered terrain), in which the quality of the real-time kinematic (RTK) or post-processed kinematic (PPK) positioning varies. We present a method to predict the mapping quality from the information that is available prior to the flight, such as the flight plan, expected flight time, approximate digital terrain model, prevailing surface texture, and embedded sensor characteristics. After detailing the important considerations, we also present the concept of global precision within the context of minimal and efficient ground control point placement in a complex terrain. Finally, we validate the proposed methodology by means of rigorous statistical testing against numerous experiments conducted under different mapping conditions. There are two popular approaches to predict criminal activities: one is based on historical crime, and the other is based on environmental variables correlated with criminal patterns. Previous research on geo-statistical modeling mainly considered one type of data in space-time domain, and few sought to blend multi-source data. In this research, we proposed a spatio-temporal Cokriging algorithm to integrate historical crime data and urban transitional zones for more accurate crime prediction. Time-series historical crime data were used as the primary variable, while urban transitional zones identified from the VIIRS nightlight imagery were used as the secondary co-variable. The algorithm has been applied to predict weekly-based street crime and hotspots in Cincinnati, Ohio. Statistical tests and Predictive Accuracy Index (PAI) and Predictive Efficiency Index (PEI) tests were used to validate predictions in comparison with those of the control group without using the co-variable. The validation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm with historical crime data and urban transitional zones increased the correlation coefficient by 5.4% for weekdays and by 12.3% for weekends in statistical tests, and gained higher hit rates measured by PAI/PEI in the hotspots test.
