[Termes IGN] test statistiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new method for quantitatively assessing the impact and therefore the significance of differences between sets of additional parameters used to model systematic sensor errors. Focusing on bundle reconstruction at the sensor, simulation-based techniques have recently been proposed as superior methods to standard parameter-space hypothesis testing. This paper experimentally demonstrates the shortcoming of this approach and proposes an improved method that tests the effect of additional parameter differences on object reconstruction, which is generally of primary interest in photogrammetry. Additionally, the arbitrariness in selecting only one or two object space configurations is overcome with the new method by simulating a large number of randomly-generated but realistic control point networks for sensor orientation and a dense grid of points for object reconstruction. The experimental subject of the paper is a Faro 880 terrestrial laser scanner for which 10 sets of calibration parameters have been captured over a 13-month period. While standard parameter-space hypothesis testing indicates the instrument is not stable over this time, the new procedure shows that this is not true in all instances. [Termes IGN] test statistiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper discusses state and promising directions of automated object extraction in photogrammetric computer vision considering also practical aspects arising for digital photogrammetric workstations (DPW). A review of the state of the art shows that there are only few practically successful systems on the market. Therefore, important issues for a practical success of automated object extraction are identified. A sound and most important powerful theoretical background is the basis. Here, we particularly point to statistical modeling. Testing makes clear which of the approaches are suited best and how useful they are for praxis. A key for commercial success of a practical system is efficient user interaction. As the means for data acquisition are changing, new promising application areas such as extremely detailed three-dimensional (3D) urban models for virtual television or mission rehearsal evolve. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] test statistiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a method for anomaly detection in hyperspectral images based on the support vector data description (SVDD), a kernel method for modeling the support of a distribution. Conventional anomaly-detection algorithms are based upon the popular Reed-Xiaoli detector. However, these algorithms typically suffer from large numbers of false alarms due to the assumptions that the local background is Gaussian and homogeneous. In practice, these assumptions are often violated, especially when the neighborhood of a pixel contains multiple types of terrain. To remove these assumptions, a novel anomaly detector that incorporates a nonparametric background model based on the SVDD is derived. Expanding on prior SVDD work, a geometric interpretation of the SVDD is used to propose a decision rule that utilizes a new test statistic and shares some of the properties of constant false-alarm rate detectors. Using receiver operating characteristic curves, the authors report results that demonstrate the improved performance and reduction in the false-alarm rate when using the SVDD-based detector on wide-area airborne mine detection (WAAMD) and hyperspectral digital imagery collection experiment (HYDICE) imagery.
