[Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) The recent explosive publications of big data studies have well documented the rise of big data and its ongoing prevalence. Different types of “big data” have emerged and have greatly enriched spatial information sciences and related fields in terms of breadth and granularity. Studies that were difficult to conduct in the past time due to data availability can now be carried out. However, big data brings lots of “big errors” in data quality and data usage, which cannot be used as a substitute for sound research design and solid theories. We indicated and summarized the problems faced by current big data studies with regard to data collection, processing and analysis: inauthentic data collection, information incompleteness and noise of big data, unrepresentativeness, consistency and reliability, and ethical issues. Cases of empirical studies are provided as evidences for each problem. We propose that big data research should closely follow good scientific practice to provide reliable and scientific “stories”, as well as explore and develop techniques and methods to mitigate or rectify those ‘big-errors’ brought by big data. [Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) Nowadays, an abundance of sensors are used to collect very large datasets of moving objects. The movement of these objects can be analysed by identifying common routes. For this, a cluster of trajectories must be defined and the pattern of each cluster discovered. In this article, we introduce a new pattern, called the Trajectory Box Plot (TBP), to summarize a set of trajectories following the same route. The TBP is an extension of the well-known descriptive statistics Box Plot concept. Each TBP is described by a median trajectory, a 3D box and a 3D fence. The median trajectory depicts the typical movement of mobile objects. The box and the fences (whiskers) describe the spatial and temporal spreading around the central tendency. TBPs are useful to summarize and analyse trajectory streams, understand their spatio-temporal density and detect outliers. In this article, visual analysis highlights how the TBP pattern effectively describes how the density of trajectory clusters change over time. In this article, the representation and computation of geometry-oriented topological relations (GOTR) are developed. GOTR is the integration of geometry and topology. The geometries are represented by blades, which contain both algebraic expressions and construction structures of the geometries in the conformal geometric algebra space. With the meet, inner, and outer products, two topology operators, the MeetOp and BoundOp operators, are developed to reveal the disjoint/intersection and inside/on-surface/outside relations, respectively. A theoretical framework is then formulated to compute the topological relations between any pair of elementary geometries using the two operators. A multidimensional, unified and geometry-oriented algorithm is developed to compute topological relations between geometries. With this framework, the internal results of the topological relations computation are geometries. The topological relations can be illustrated with clear geometric meanings; at the same time, it can also be modified and updated parametrically. Case studies evaluating the topological relations between 3D objects are performed. The result suggests that our model can express and compute the topological relations between objects in a symbolic and geometry-oriented way. The method can also support topological relation series computation between objects with location or shape changes. [Termes IGN] web des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Linked Data transforms traditional ways of structuring, publishing, discovering, accessing, and integrating data. The advantages of Linked Data, including the common data model, standardized data access mechanism, and link-based data discovery, allow effective sharing and discovery of geospatial resources in Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). Web geoprocessing workflows have been widely used in SDI to support distributed geoprocessing. Geospatial data and services are discovered from SDI and chained as geoprocessing workflows. Workflow results can be published as new resources in SDI. The whole process could be improved by the Linked Data approach, so that sensors, observations, data, services, workflows, and provenance can be linked and published into the Web of Data. This paper explores the integration of Linked Data and Web geoprocessing workflows by discovering geospatial resources in the Web of Data to build geoprocessing workflows. It adopts the Linked Data approach to publish geospatial data including in-situ observations and satellite images, as well as geospatial Web services. The workflow results, including data products and processing steps, are also exposed as Linked Data in turn for tracing provenance. The results not only support semantic discovery and integration of heterogeneous geospatial resources, but also provide transparency in data sharing and processing. The approach is implemented as extensions to an existing geoprocessing workflow tool, GeoJModelBuilder, to illustrate its applicability. [Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) Properly incorporating location-uncertainties – which is, fully considering their impact when processing queries of interest – is a paramount in any application dealing with spatio-temporal data. Typically, the location-uncertainty is a consequence of the fact that objects cannot be tracked continuously and the inherent imprecision of localization devices. Although there is a large body of works tackling various aspects of efficient management of uncertainty in spatio-temporal data – the settings consider homogeneous localization devices, e.g., either a Global Positioning System (GPS), or different sensors (roadside, indoor, etc.). In this work, we take a first step towards combining the uncertain location data – i.e., fusing the uncertainty of moving objects location – obtained from both GPS devices and roadside sensors. We develop a formal model for capturing the whereabouts in time in this setting and propose the Fused Bead (FB) model, extending the bead model based solely on GPS locations. We also present algorithms for answering traditional spatio-temporal range queries, as well as a special variant pertaining to objects locations with respect to lanes on road segments – augmenting the conventional graph based road network with the width attribute. In addition, pruning techniques are proposed in order to expedite the query processing. We evaluated the benefits of the proposed approach on both real (Beijing taxi) and synthetic (generated from a customized trajectory generator) data. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed method of fusing the uncertainties may eliminate up to 26 % of the false positives in the Beijing taxi data, and up to 40 % of the false positives in the larger synthetic dataset, when compared to using the traditional bead uncertainty models.
