[Termes IGN] vidéo numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) We report on a stereo system for 3D detection and tracking of pedestrians in urban traffic scenes. The system is built around a probabilistic environment model which fuses evidence from dense 3D reconstruction and image-based pedestrian detection into a consistent interpretation of the observed scene, and a multi-hypothesis tracker to reconstruct the pedestrians’ trajectories in 3D coordinates over time. Experiments on real stereo sequences recorded in busy inner-city scenarios are presented, in which the system achieves promising results. [Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) We present an integrated and multidisciplinary approach for analyzing the behavior of moving objects. The results originate from an ongoing research of four different partners from the Dutch Poseidon project (Embedded Systems Institute (2007)), which aims to develop new methods for Maritime Safety and Security (MSS) systems to monitor vessel traffic in coastal areas. Our architecture enables an operator to visually test hypotheses about vessels with time-dependent sensor data and on-demand external knowledge. The system includes the following components: abstraction and simulation of trajectory sensor data, fusion of multiple heterogenous data sources, reasoning, and visual analysis of the combined data sources. We start by extracting segments of consistent movement from simulated or real-world trajectory data, which we store as instances of the Simple Event Model (SEM), an event ontology represented in the Resource Description Framework (RDF). Next, we add data from the web about vessels and geography to enrich the sensor data. This additional information is integrated with the representation of the vessels (actors) and places in SEM. The enriched trajectory data are stored in a knowledge base, which can be further annotated by reasoning and is queried by a visual analytics tool to search for spatiotemporal patterns. Although our approach is dedicated to MSS systems, we expect it to be useful in other domains. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (Auteur) Time plays an important role in the analysis of moving object data. For many applications it is not sufficient to only compare objects at exactly the same times, or to consider only the geometry of their trajectories. We show how to leverage between these two approaches by extending a tool from curve analysis, namely the free space diagram. Our approach also allows us to take further attributes of the objects like speed or direction into account. We demonstrate the usefulness of the new tool by applying it to the problem of detecting single file movement. A single file is a set of moving entities, which are following each other, one behind the other. Our algorithm is the first one developed for detecting such movement patterns. For this application, we analyse demonstrate the performance of our tool both theoretically experimentally. [Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) Recently much research has been focused on developing techniques and systems for providing routes within buildings. While outdoor routing is based on criteria such as shortest, fastest and least turns, indoor routing is primarily based on accessibility and safety criteria, and while outdoor routing could adversely be impacted by weather and traffic, among other conditions, such conditions do not affect indoor routing. However, developing techniques that meet user's indoor routing preferences, especially those with special needs, is a challenging task. An example is development of a set of techniques that avoids a hallway with a protruding object to allow safe passage by the visually impaired or that avoids stairs for the mobility impaired. In this article, we present and analyze new techniques based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards that provide routes within buildings and meet user's special needs and preferences.
