[Termes IGN] transformationRésumé : (auteur) The analysis of time series for clustering and classification is becoming ever more popular because of the increasingly ubiquitous nature of IoT, satellite constellations, and handheld and smart-wearable devices, etc. The presence of phase shift, differences in sample duration, and/or compression and dilation of a signal means that Euclidean distance is unsuitable in many cases. As such, several similarity measures specific to time-series have been proposed, Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) being the most popular. Nevertheless, DTW does not respect the axioms of a metric and therefore Learning DTW-Preserving Shapelets (LDPS) have been developed to regain these properties by using the concept of shapelet transform. LDPS learns an unsupervised representation that models DTW distances using Euclidean distance in shapelet space. This article proposes constrained DTW-preserving shapelets (CDPS), in which a limited amount of user knowledge is available in the form of must link and cannot link constraints, to guide the representation such that it better captures the user’s interpretation of the data rather than the algorithm’s bias. Subsequently, any unconstrained algorithm can be applied, e.g. K-means clustering, k-NN classification, etc, to obtain a result that fulfils the constraints (without explicit knowledge of them). Furthermore, this representation is generalisable to out-of-sample data, overcoming the limitations of standard transductive constrained-clustering algorithms. CLDPS is shown to outperform the state-of-the-art constrained-clustering algorithms on multiple time-series datasets. [Termes IGN] transformationRésumé : (auteur) The interaction of three variables—territory, cartography, and terrain—can account for landscape transformation processes at Naharayim/el Baqura, in the Jordan Valley, over the last century and a half. This interface is examined across three historical periods marking the passage from nomadism to sedentism: The Ottoman Period (1858–1917), the British Mandate (1918–1948), and the statehood period (1948–1994). Adopting a hybridized and interdisciplinary approach at the juncture of history, landscape architecture, and geopolitics, this work performs an in-depth analysis of the three variables in each period and examines their relationship to power. The analysis emphasizes territorial concepts and border-making, mapping practices, land survey techniques, infrastructure, agricultural development, and water regimes. It will be shown that mapping has been a medium of politics, with landscapes often being subjugated to political or territorial ambitions. Data is gathered from primary sources, including some previously unknown from the periods in question, fieldwork, interviews, a point cloud data set from both banks of the Jordan River, as well as contemporary social scientific scholarship. It is argued that landscape is neither a natural feature nor a man-made system of engineered spaces, but rather the outcome of a dynamic interaction between natural landscape, human imagination, and various iterations of power, be they natural, theological, technological, political, or military. It is this dynamic interaction across space and time that this work attempts to map. Note de contenu : 1. Domesticated Landscape: Ottoman Imperial Period (1858–1917)

[Termes IGN] transformationRésumé : (auteur) Precise registration of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is a nontrivial task since a change in radar-acquisition geometry generates image shifts. In existing system, either the transformation functions are oversimplified, or external measures such as digital elevation model and flight track are required to be precise. In this paper, we proposed a generative Bayesian approach to modelling the displacement vectors that map the position of each pixel in the image, thus avoiding degradation of the transformation function. Rather than providing a point estimate for the transformation function, the proposed method yields a full posterior density function of the transformation function. Especially, the Bayesian model learns all the parameters adaptively, and the procedure is fully automatic. The proposed model is comparable in accuracy to state-of-the-art optical flow methods on the challenging Sintel benchmarks, and outperforms currently published SAR image registration methods on some real SAR data with critical scenes.
