[Termes IGN] schisteRésumé : (auteur) The total organic carbon (TOC) content is of great significance to reflect the hydrocarbon-generation potential in shale reservoirs. The well logs were always used to predict the TOC content, but some linear regression methods do not match well with complex data. The neural network method can improve prediction accuracy, but it always generates unstable prediction models. A static committee machine can reduce errors and uncertainties by combining multiple learners, but the weight of integrating learners is difficult to determine. Therefore, a dynamic committee machine with fuzzy-c-means clustering (DCMF) was proposed to predict the TOC content. Experts in the DCMF include Elman neural network, extreme learning machine, and generalized regression neural network. The fuzzy-c-means clustering algorithm was used as the gate network to perform subtasks decomposition and weights calculation based on input data. The subtasks were used to train more adaptive TOC content prediction models, and the weights were transferred to the combiner to integrate all experts’ outputs into final results. The DCMF was applied in two wells located in the Jiumenchong formation in the Qiannan depression, China. The TOC prediction results using the DCMF method are more accurate than the linear regression method, three individual intelligent algorithms, and the static committee machine. The DCMF also provides a new method for weight calculation by mining potential information of input data. Note de contenu :

[Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) Background : There is an urgent need for quantifying the terrestrial carbon sink in the context of global carbon emissions. However, neither the flux measurements, nor the national wood balances fulfil this purpose. In this discussion article we point at various shortcomings and necessary improvements of these approaches in order to achieve a true quantification of the carbon exchange of land surfaces.
Results : We discuss the necessity of incorporating all lateral fluxes, but mainly the export of biomass by harvest, into the flux balance and to recognize feedbacks between management and fluxes to make flux measurements compatible with inventories. At the same time, we discuss the necessity that national reports of wood use need to fully recognize the use of wood for energy use. Both approaches of establishing an ecosystem carbon balance, fluxes and inventories, have shortcomings.
Conclusions : Including harvest and feedbacks by management appears to be the main requirement for the flux approach. A better quantification of wood use for bioenergy seems a real need for integrating the national wood balances into the global carbon cycle.Numéro de notice : A2021-497 Affiliation des auteurs : LIF+Ext (2020- ) Thématique : FORET Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1186/s40663-021-00294-z Date de publication en ligne : 01/03/2021 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1186/s40663-021-00294-z Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=97975

[Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) A valid representation of intra‐annual wood formation processes in global vegetation models is vital for assessing climate change impacts on the forest carbon stock. Yet, wood formation is generally modelled with photosynthesis, despite mounting evidence that cambial activity is rather directly constrained by limiting environmental factors. Here, we apply a state‐of‐the‐art turgor‐driven growth model to simulate 4 yr of hourly stem radial increment from Picea abies (L.) Karst. and Larix decidua Mill. growing along an elevational gradient. For the first time, wood formation observations were used to validate weekly to annual stem radial increment simulations, while environmental measurements were used to assess the climatic constraints on turgor‐driven growth. Model simulations matched the observed timing and dynamics of wood formation. Using the detailed model outputs, we identified a strict environmental regulation on stem growth (air temperature > 2°C and soil water potential > −0.6 MPa). Warmer and drier summers reduced the growth rate as a result of turgor limitation despite warmer temperatures being favourable for cambial activity. These findings suggest that turgor is a central driver of the forest carbon sink and should be considered in next‐generation vegetation models, particularly in the context of global warming and increasing frequency of droughts. [Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) Contexte.
Conclusion. Numéro de notice : 17682 Affiliation des auteurs : LIF+Ext (2020- ) Thématique : FORET Nature : Thèse française Note de thèse : Thèse de doctorat : Biologie et écologie des forêts et des agrosystèmes : AgroParisTech : 2021 Organisme de stage : LIF (IGN) & BEF - Biogéochimie des Écosystèmes Forestiers (AgroParisTech) nature-HAL : Thèse DOI : sans En ligne : https://hal.science/tel-03970190v1 Format de la ressource électronique : URL Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=98153 Empreinte carbone de la forêt et de l’utilisation de son bois / Philippe Leturcq in Revue forestière française, vol 72 n° 6 ([01/12/2020])PermalinkA meta-analysis of changes in soil organic carbon stocks after afforestation with deciduous broadleaved, sempervirent broadleaved, and conifer tree species / Guolong Hou in Annals of Forest Science, vol 77 n° 4 (December 2020)PermalinkUnprecedented pluri-decennial increase in the growing stock of French forests is persistent and dominated by private broadleaved forests / Jean-Daniel Bontemps in Annals of Forest Science, vol 77 n° 4 (December 2020)PermalinkAnalyzing the joint effect of forest management and wildfires on living biomass and carbon stocks in Spanish forests / Patricia Adame in Forests, vol 11 n°11 (November 2020)PermalinkUrban tree species identification and carbon stock mapping for urban green planning and management / MD Abdul Choudhury in Forests, vol 11 n°11 (November 2020)PermalinkCarbon stocks, partitioning, and wood composition in short-rotation forestry system under reduced planting spacing / Felipe Schwerz in Annals of Forest Science, vol 77 n° 3 (September 2020)PermalinkPhotoperiod and temperature as dominant environmental drivers triggering secondary growth resumption in Northern Hemisphere conifers / Jian-Guo Huang in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America PNAS, vol 117 n° 34 (August 2020)PermalinkPredicting biomass dynamics at the national extent from digital aerial photogrammetry / Bronwyn Price in International journal of applied Earth observation and geoinformation, vol 90 (August 2020)PermalinkUsing spectral indices to estimate water content and GPP in sphagnum moss and other peatland vegetation / Kirsten J.
