[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) During the last 20 years, airborne laser scanning (ALS), often combined with passive multispectral information from aerial images, has shown its high feasibility for automated mapping processes. The main benefits have been achieved in the mapping of elevated objects such as buildings and trees. Recently, the first multispectral airborne laser scanners have been launched, and active multispectral information is for the first time available for 3D ALS point clouds from a single sensor. This article discusses the potential of this new technology in map updating, especially in automated object-based land cover classification and change detection in a suburban area. For our study, Optech Titan multispectral ALS data over a suburban area in Finland were acquired. Results from an object-based random forests analysis suggest that the multispectral ALS data are very useful for land cover classification, considering both elevated classes and ground-level classes. The overall accuracy of the land cover classification results with six classes was 96% compared with validation points. The classes under study included building, tree, asphalt, gravel, rocky area and low vegetation. Compared to classification of single-channel data, the main improvements were achieved for ground-level classes. According to feature importance analyses, multispectral intensity features based on several channels were more useful than those based on one channel. Automatic change detection for buildings and roads was also demonstrated by utilising the new multispectral ALS data in combination with old map vectors. In change detection of buildings, an old digital surface model (DSM) based on single-channel ALS data was also used. Overall, our analyses suggest that the new data have high potential for further increasing the automation level in mapping. Unlike passive aerial imaging commonly used in mapping, the multispectral ALS technology is independent of external illumination conditions, and there are no shadows on intensity images produced from the data. These are significant advantages in developing automated classification and change detection procedures. [Termes IGN] restauration de bâtimentRésumé : (auteur) The detection of materials and damage in building facades by means of near-infrared digital images is not a widely explored field in architectural research, especially in rehabilitation and historic building surveys. The aim of this work is to study whether spectral classification image methods, which are frequently used in remote sensing land applications (non-contact geophysical techniques), could be applied in the architectural field to detect various construction materials in historic building facades by means of low-cost photogrammetric equipment. Several classification methodologies were applied to different image band combinations, which led to the conclusion that the highest accuracy is obtained with a multiband image composed of visible and near-infrared bands. We also performed a derived measurement of the real surface of the facing material, demonstrating that low-cost instrumentation could be useful in architectural interventions in cultural heritage to identify construction materials in a non-destructive way. [Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (auteur) The newly proposed correlation filter based trackers can achieve appealing performance despite their great simplicity and superior speed. However, this kind of object trackers is not born with scale and aspect ratio adaptability, thus resulting in suboptimal tracking accuracy. To tackle this problem, this paper integrates the class-agnostic detection proposal method, which is widely adopted in object detection area, into a correlation filter tracker. In the tracker part, optimizations such as feature integration, robust model updating and proposal rejection are applied for efficient integration. As for proposal generation, through integrating and comparing four detection proposal generators along with two baseline methods, the quality of detection proposals is found to have considerable influence on tracking accuracy. Therefore, as the most promising proposal generator, EdgeBoxes is chosen and further enhanced with background suppression. Evaluations are mainly performed on a challenging 50-sequence dataset (OTB50) and its two subsets, 28 sequences with significant scale variation and 14 sequences with obvious aspect ratio change. Among the trackers equipped with different proposal generators, state-of-the-art trackers and existing correlation filter variants, our proposed tracker reports the highest accuracy while running efficiently at an average speed of 20.4 frames per second. Additionally, numerical performance analysis in per-sequence manner and experiment results on VOT2014 dataset are also presented to enable deeper insights into our approach. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we present a novel framework for detecting individual trees in densely sampled 3D point cloud data acquired in urban areas. Given a 3D point cloud, the objective is to assign point-wise labels that are both class-aware and instance-aware, a task that is known as instance-level segmentation. To achieve this, our framework addresses two successive steps. The first step of our framework is given by the use of geometric features for a binary point-wise semantic classification with the objective of assigning semantic class labels to irregularly distributed 3D points, whereby the labels are defined as “tree points” and “other points”. The second step of our framework is given by a semantic segmentation with the objective of separating individual trees within the “tree points”. This is achieved by applying an efficient adaptation of the mean shift algorithm and a subsequent segment-based shape analysis relying on semantic rules to only retain plausible tree segments. We demonstrate the performance of our framework on a publicly available benchmark dataset, which has been acquired with a mobile mapping system in the city of Delft in the Netherlands. This dataset contains 10.13 M labeled 3D points among which 17.6 % are labeled as “tree points”. The derived results clearly reveal a semantic classification of high accuracy (up to 90.77 %) and an instance-level segmentation of high plausibility, while the simplicity, applicability and efficiency of the involved methods even allow applying the complete framework on a standard laptop computer with a reasonable processing time (less than 2.5 h) Numéro de notice : A2017-140 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG MATIS+Ext (2012-2019) Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.3390/rs9030277 Date de publication en ligne : 16/03/2017 En ligne : http://doi.org/10.3390/rs9030277 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=84614
