[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) With the rapid urbanisation and development of three-dimensional (3D) space use, space objects in residential houses are of increasing concern. Illustrating these spatial entities within a clustered and multi-layered environment is confronted with the long-standing cognitive challenges of visual occlusion, visual clutter and visual navigation. Direct illustration as cross sections and cutaways provide valuable instruction for removing occlusion while preserving global contexts to give positioning cues. However, cross-sectioning or cutting away of the popular boundary-described models suffers from computational robustness and efficiency problems, while separated boundary geometry with surface properties prevents the efficient image-based direct illustrations from implementing a visually complete, semantically consistent practice easily. This article proposes a semantic volume texture (SVT) model for direct illustration. This true-3D raster model integrates spatial pattern embedding as well, thus avoiding the costly amendments to keep semantic consistent and visually complete during illustrative cutting and reconstructing operations. The proposed model is extended to the practical base of CityGML schema, the preparation of SVT is presented and applications imitating cross sections and cutaways are demonstrated. Experiments show that SVT-based direct illustrations are effective and efficient, making the proposed model suitable for explorative visualisations in the layered micro-scale environments. It was developed to explore movement data based on the requirements of human geographers. The interactive environment consists of multiple coordinated views incorporating three graphical representations. For the experiment, two groups of the user, domain experts and non-domain experts, had to execute several map-use tasks to answers specific question. The data collected during the experiment were analysis resulting in a set of usability metrics related to the effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction of developed application. The comparison of both groups showed that domain experts were able to operate the visual analytical environment more effectively and efficiently due to their interest to explore their data. The user feedback derived from the analysis of both experiments was further processed for the improvement of the application. [Termes IGN] Web View ServiceRésumé : (Auteur) Land has an essential role in any society, either as one of the most important capitals of mankind or as a place for people's life and activities. Therefore, registration of ownership and land use rights in a formal system is a major issue. In different countries, Cadastre systems can register extent, rights, restrictions and responsibilities related to land parcels. Many organizations such as municipality, tax and banks need to this information for planning and decision making. Considering the needs for land information by different organizations, access to cadastre data gains a lot of importance. Despite this importance, access to cadastre information encounter with different challenges such as differences in platforms or data structures and access to semantic and geometric data. The main goal of this research is to overcome these challenges and to improve the interoperability in sharing and accessing 3D cadastre data and challenges. This paper investigates capabilities of current 3D Spatial Web Services: WFS, WVS, WTS and W3DS as well as advantages of using these 3D services for access to 3D cadastre data. The authors also combined the legal classes of LADM with geometrical classes of CityGML for transferring the semantic and geometric cadastre data. Finally, some prospects of using 3D Web Services will be illustrated through implementation the scenarios. The most important advantages of using 3D Spatial Web Services in cadastre are on the fly construction and on demand presentation of 3D cadastral model, facilitating of access to legal and descriptive cadastre information, no necessity to user's awareness of data structure in cadastre database and compatibility with different levels of users. [Termes IGN] webGLRésumé : (auteur) In recent years the combination of databases, data and internet technologies has greatly enhanced the functionality of many systems based on spatial data, and facilitated the dissemination of such information. In this paper, we propose a web-based data visualisation and analysis system for stratigraphic data from a Polish mine, with visualisation and analysis tools which can be accessed via the Internet. WWW technologies such as active web pages and WebGL technology provide a user-friendly interface for browsing, plotting, comparing, and downloading information of interest, without the need for dedicated mining industry software.
