[Termes IGN] santé des forêtsRésumé : (auteur) This paper focuses on forest health risk (FHR) assessment and prediction in the mining-affected forest region using AHP model based on multi-criteria analysis in a GIS platform. We considered a total twenty-eight (twenty two present and six predicted) causative parameters including climate, natural or geomorphological, forestry, topographical, environmental, and anthropogenic. The assessment results of FHR show that of the total existing forest area, 2.85% area under very high, 13.63% high, 31.98% moderate, 32.68% low, and 18.87% are under very low categories. According to the assessment and prediction FHR results, the very high-risk classes were found at mines surrounding forest compartments. The sensitivity analysis showed that some factors were more sensitive to FHR. The correlation results showed a negative relationship between FHR and distance from mines and foliar dust concentration. This work will provide a basic guideline for effective planning and management in forestry studies for the mining-affected region. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) The importance of irrigation development is considered a key factor for food security and poverty reduction because it improves crop productivity, and ensures stable expansion of agricultural production. However, irrigation development requires understanding of the available resources including the suitability of the land for agriculture. In this study, the land suitability for paddy fields was evaluated within the United Republic of Tanzania mainland by integrating the geographic information system (GIS) and analytical hierarchy process (AHP). In this study, 11 criteria based on various sources (soil type, soil drainage, soil organic carbon, soil pH, soil depth, elevation, slope, land use, topographic wetness index, temperature, and precipitation) were used. These criteria were used within the GIS-based AHP to identify the most suitable land for sustainable paddy field cultivation considering the preservation of the natural environment of forests and protected areas by examining two scenarios: rainfed condition and irrigation priority. The former ten criteria were assumed to be constant in both scenarios and were assigned the same scores, while the latter criterion (precipitation) was assigned different scores for varying amounts to plan new irrigation projects. Unsuitable land represents 72.8% of the study area, reducing the potential agriculture land (PAL) appropriate for cultivation to 27.2%. In the rainfed condition scenario, the very high and high suitability classes represent 17.6% of the total land of the study area and 64.7% of the PAL. In the irrigation priority scenario, the same classes represent 21.4% of the total land of the study area and 78.6% of the PAL. Finally, the distribution of the land suitability for both scenarios was analyzed within eight administrative irrigation zones to determine the irrigation zone with the greatest potential for paddy field cultivation. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (auteur) Forest roads are a basic necessity in forestry policies and should be planned by considering many factors. This study aims to generate optimum forest road routes and to compare them with current forest roads. First, FRNSM has been produced according to AHP, using nine factors for the study area. Then, risk statuses of the current forest roads are examined. According to results, 35% of the total forest road has high risk. A MATLAB-GUI based an application using optimal path algorithm developed for the second stage of the study has been produced. Using this application, optimum forest road routes have been produced for 11 pilot areas selected from the region. Generated routes have been compared with current forest roads in the region. It has been observed that generated routes in all areas are more suitable than current forest roads in terms of total length and average risk of suitability. [Termes IGN] ville intelligenteRésumé : (auteur) Street vitality has become an essential indicator for evaluating the attractiveness and potential of the sustainable development of urban blocks, and it can be reflected by the type and the frequency of people's pedestrian activities on the street. While it is recognized that street built environment features affect pedestrian behavior and street vitality, quantifying the impact of these characteristics remains inconclusive. This paper proposes an automated deep learning approach to quantitatively explore the association between the street built environment and street vitality. First, we established a deep learning model for street vitality classification for automatic evaluation of street vitality based on the volumes and activities of pedestrians in the street through multiple object tracking and scene classification. Then, we applied semantic segmentation to measure five selected vitality-related street built environment variables. Finally, a linear regression model was applied to evaluate the built environment variables’ significance and effects on street vitality. To verify our method's accuracy and applicability, we selected a commercial complex in Osaka as an illustrative example. The experimental results highlight that street width and transparency have significant positive effects on street vitality. Compared with traditional methods, our approach is feasible, reliable, transferable, and more efficient. [Termes IGN] zone tropicale humideRésumé : (auteur) Geospatial techniques and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) play a crucial role in the planning and management of land and water resources. GIS-based MCDA technique "Catastrophe theory" has been recently proposed for evaluating groundwater potential. However, the major limitation of "Catastrophe theory" is that only quantitative factors/thematic layers can be used for assessing groundwater potential, though qualitative factors are equally important. To overcome this inherent limitation, a novel GIS-based MCDA approach named "Hybrid Catastrophe" technique is proposed in this study. The "Hybrid Catastrophe" technique integrates the original "Catastrophe theory" with the "Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)" to take into account both qualitative and quantitative thematic layers for assessing groundwater potential, thereby improving the reliability and versatility of the original Catastrophe technique. The applicability of "Hybrid Catastrophe" technique is demonstrated through a case study wherein 8 influential thematic layers (both quantitative and qualitative) were considered for assessing groundwater potential. The four quantitative layers were assigned weights based on the "Catastrophe theory" and the remaining four qualitative layers were assigned weights based on the "AHP theory". These thematic layers were integrated in GIS to delineate groundwater potential zones. The "Hybrid Catastrophe" technique yields four groundwater potential zones in the study area: (i) "very good" (covering 16% of the study area), (ii) "good" (54%), (iii) "moderate" (29%) and (iv) "poor" (1%) and its accuracy was found to be 77% that is reasonably high. The proposed "Hybrid Catastrophe" technique is versatile and it can be successfully applied to other parts of the world for evaluating groundwater potential at diverse spatial scales irrespective of agro-climatic, hydrologic and hydrogeologic conditions.
