Au vu de l'extension de ces dégâts et pour une prise des décisions efficaces et rapides, un besoin des systèmes de suivi se fait de plus en plus ressentir. Dans ce contexte, les images satellitales se présentent comme une bonne source des données pour un système de suivi, étant donné qu'elles sont capables de fournir des informations sur des larges surfaces de façon rapide et à un coût minimal. Elles ont été utilisées par plusieurs auteurs (Sirois et Ahern (1989) pour Dendroctonus ponderosae, Buchheim et al. (1984) pour Choristoneura fumiferama, Nelson (1983), Beaudoin et al. (1996) et Stover et al.(1997) pour Lymantria dispar) pour le suivi des attaquées des insectes avec des bons résultats. Cette étude, basée sur une étude déjà faite sur la Forêt Indivise d'Haguenau, applique la technique de Détection des Changements en utilisant seul des images multispectrales SPOT et LANDSAT pour le suivi et l'identification des zones défoliées dans le Centre-Ouest de la France pendant les années de 1992 et 1993. [Termes IGN] variogrammeIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (Auteur) L'étude de la Biosphère Continentale à partir de données de télédétection visible et infrarouge nécessite une bonne compréhension des phénomènes physiques à l'origine de l'information radiométrique mesurée depuis l'espace. Les modèles de transfert radiatif appliqués aux surfaces terrestres jouent un rôle majeur pour développer notre connaissance. Cette thèse est centrée sur la modélisation 3-D des couverts forestiers et présente le modèle de transfert radiatif DART qui pallie à plusieurs limitations classiques des modèles actuels : introduction des mécanismes physiques majeurs (atmosphère anisotrope, rétrodiffusion, relief, etc.), prise en compte de la nature 3-D de la végétation, simulation d'images. L'apport du modèle DART a été étudié dans 3 domaines particuliers: (1) l'analyse texturale des images satellitaires : L'intérêt du modèle DART réside dans sa capacité à fournir des simulations précises. Ainsi, l'utilisation de modèles simples peut conduire à une information texturale erronée. Le potentiel de DART a été illustré en étudiant la sensibilité de l'information texturale à certains paramètres biophysiques (taux de couvert, LAI, etc.) et expérimentaux (configurations d 'éclairement et d'observation, résolution spatiale). Finalement, une validation partielle a été réalisée avec des images à haute résolution spatiale du capteur aéroporté RAMI acquises sur le site des Landes. (2) l'analyse spectrométrique : Un intérêt de la haute résolution spectrale est d'évaluer le contenu des couverts en éléments biochimiques. Cette connaissance est essentielle pour étudier le fonctionnement de la végétation. Les travaux empiriques menés à ce jour n'ont pas permis d'établir de relations robustes indépendantes du site d'étude et des conditions d'acquisition des données de télédétection. Ce problème est apparu avec l'analyse des données du spectromètre aéroporté ISM pour -établir des relations prédictives des concentrations en lignine, cellulose et azote d'un site de la forêt des Landes. Ces relations diffèrent des relations obtenues lors d'une expérience précédente (AVIRIS). Le modèle DART a permis d'étudier la validité de ces relations compte tenu de la configuration d'acquisition et de la variabilité naturelle du couvert (LAI, taux de couvert, sous bois) et, (3) l'analyse de données « multi-résolution » : Une étude prospective à été menée pour montrer que la modélisation physique peut contribuer à l'étude d'un problème à la fois commun et fondamental en télédétection: la signification de l'information satellitaire à différentes résolutions spatiales. L'objectif est de simuler de manière précise la BRDF de couverts étendus en utilisant uniquement des paramètres biophysiques et optiques mesurés sur le terrain. L'approche retenue consiste en un couplage de 2 modèles de transfert radiatif fonctionnant à différentes échelles d'analyse.
