[Termes IGN] VidéogrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) Positioning of a GPS-equipped (Global Positioning System) moving target was determined by stereo-videogrammetry from two images of cameras where they were placed on another GPS-equipped moving platform. The computed position outputs of target were compared with the relative positions obtained from two GPS receivers. The target, a small square-like pattern, was tracked from a certain distance depending on the base distance between the cameras. The video files were created from acquired images data. These video files were used in real-time computation to get the target image position for every film frame. First, the location of target was computed within video film frames. Since the target cannot be searched on the whole picture, maximum pixel length, which the target can travel on the consecutive film frames was considered as offset. Therefore, the search was made over a small area rather than whole picture. That was improved the performance of positioning. Finally, videogrammetrically computed coordinates for all epochs were compared with GPS-based relative distances to justify performance of relative target positioning results. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Photogrammetric processing is available in various software solutions and can easily deliver 3D pointclouds as accurate as 1 pixel. Certain applications, e.g., very accurate shape reconstruction in industrial metrology or change detection for deformation studies in geosciences, require results of enhanced accuracy. The tie-point extraction step is the opening in the photogrammetric processing chain and therefore plays a key role in the quality of the subsequent image orientation, camera calibration and 3D reconstruction. Improving its precision will have an impact on the obtained 3D. In this research work we describe a method which aims at enhancing the accuracy of image orientation by adding a second iteration photogrammetric processing. The result from the classical processing is used as a priori information to guide the extraction of refined tie-points of better photogrammetric quality. Evaluated on indoor and UAV acquisitions, the proposed methodology shows a significant improvement on the obtained 3D point accuracy. [Termes IGN] SénégalRésumé : (auteur) The sensitivity of the radar signal to the seasonal dynamics in the Sahel region is a considerable asset for monitoring surface parameters including soil moisture. Given the sensitivity of the radar signal to vegetation mass production, roughness and soil moisture, the main problem has been to estimate the contribution of these three parameters to the signal. This study aims to circumvent this problem by combining radar with optical data. The DMP (Dry Mater Product) extracted from SPOT data allowed to estimate vegetation mass production. Surface roughness was estimated from radar data during the dry season. Because during the dry season, radar signal is only conditioned by soil roughness in this region a Radiative Transfer Model (RTM) was used: it consists in a microwave scattering model of layered vegetation based on the first-order solution of the radiative transfer equation and it accounts for multiple scattering within the canopy, surface roughness of the soil, and the interaction between canopy surface and soil. This model was designed to account for the branch size distribution, leaf orientation distribution, and branch orientation distribution for each size. In this study, the RTM has been calibrated with ESCAT (European Radar Satellite Scatterometer) data, and has been used in order to estimate soil moisture. The results obtained have allowed to track the spatial and temporal dynamics of soil moisture on the one hand, and on the other hand the influence of geology and morphopedology on the spatial dynamics of the soil moisture variability. These results are promising despite the fact that the inversed RTM often faces difficulties to interpret the signal for saturated soils, giving an aberrant value of soil moisture more often than not. However, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are emerging as a suitable technology for providing very high spatial and temporal resolution data at a low cost. This paper aims to show the potential of using UAVs for map creation and updating. The whole workflow is introduced in the paper, using a case study in Rwanda, where 954 images were collected with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus quadcopter. An orthophoto covering 0.095 km2 with a spatial resolution of 3.3 cm was produced and used to extract features with a sub-decimetre accuracy. Quantitative and qualitative control of the UAV data products were performed, indicating that the obtained accuracies comply to international standards. Moreover, possible problems and further perspectives were also discussed. The results demonstrate that UAVs provide promising opportunities to create high-resolution and highly accurate orthophotos, thus facilitating map creation and updating. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (Auteur) Mobile mapping technologies have contributed to close range photogrammetry becoming an efficient method for a wide range of applications over the last two decades. Advancements have included the integration of multi‐camera images and georeferencing data collected with a mobile mapping system (MMS). This paper proposes the use of a portable panoramic image mapping system (PPIMS), which is a specially designed platform equipped with eight cameras to capture panoramic images and a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver (or a prism reflector) for positioning. A rigorous calibration procedure is developed for PPIMS, as well as a bundle adjustment method to solve for the platform exterior orientation parameters (EOPs) which then allows the image EOPs to be calculated. Experimental results demonstrate that PPIMS mapping accuracy can be better than 13 mm, making it comparable with traditional methods but much more efficient in the measuring process.
