This study presents a workflow to extract the extent of urbanized ground using decision-level fusion and regularization of individual classifications on Sentinel-2 and SPOT-6 satellite images. First, both images are classified individually in five classes, using state-of-the-art supervised classification approaches and Convolutional Neural Networks. Decision-level fusion and regularization are used to combine the spatial and spectral advantages of both sources: First, both sources are merged in order to extract building labels with as high semantic and spatial precision as possible. Second, the building labels are used together with the Sentinel-2 classification as input for a binary classification of the artificialized area; the building labels from the regularization are dilated in order to connect the building objects and a binary classification is derived from the original Sentinel-2 classification before these two separate binary classifications are reintroduced in a fusion and regularization to find the artificialized area. Segmentation of the Sentinel-2 satellite image and majority voting of the object-level classification are also used to refine the contours of the artificialized area. Note de contenu : Introduction

Note de contenu : INTRODUCTION

[Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (auteur) Due to the advantages of deep learning, in this paper, a regularized deep feature extraction (FE) method is presented for hyperspectral image (HSI) classification using a convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed approach employs several convolutional and pooling layers to extract deep features from HSIs, which are nonlinear, discriminant, and invariant. These features are useful for image classification and target detection. Furthermore, in order to address the common issue of imbalance between high dimensionality and limited availability of training samples for the classification of HSI, a few strategies such as L2 regularization and dropout are investigated to avoid overfitting in class data modeling. More importantly, we propose a 3-D CNN-based FE model with combined regularization to extract effective spectral-spatial features of hyperspectral imagery. Finally, in order to further improve the performance, a virtual sample enhanced method is proposed. The proposed approaches are carried out on three widely used hyperspectral data sets: Indian Pines, University of Pavia, and Kennedy Space Center. The obtained results reveal that the proposed models with sparse constraints provide competitive results to state-of-the-art methods. In addition, the proposed deep FE opens a new window for further research. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (Auteur) High-resolution ice concentration maps are of great interest for ship navigation and ice hazard forecasting. In this case study, a convolutional neural network (CNN) has been used to estimate ice concentration using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) scenes captured during the melt season. These dual-pol RADARSAT-2 satellite images are used as input, and the ice concentration is the direct output from the CNN. With no feature extraction or segmentation postprocessing, the absolute mean errors of the generated ice concentration maps are less than 10% on average when compared with manual interpretation of the ice state by ice experts. The CNN is demonstrated to produce ice concentration maps with more detail than produced operationally. Reasonable ice concentration estimations are made in melt regions and in regions of low ice concentration.
