[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we address the extraction of objects from 3D point clouds acquired with mobile mapping systems. More specifically, we focus on the detection of tree-like objects, a subsequent segmentation of individual trees and a localization of the respective trees. Thereby, the detection of tree-like objects is achieved via a binary point-wise classification based on geometric features, which categorizes each point of the 3D point cloud into either tree-like objects or non-tree-like objects. The subsequent segmentation and localization of individual trees is carried out by applying a 2D projection and a mean shift segmentation on a downsampled version of that part of the original 3D point cloud which represents all tree-like objects, and it also involves a segment-based shape analysis to only retain
plausible tree segments. We demonstrate the performance of our framework on a benchmark dataset which contains 10:13M 3D points and has been acquired with a mobile mapping system in the city of Delft in the Netherlands.Numéro de notice : C2016-049 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG MATIS+Ext (2012-2019) Autre URL associée : vers HAL Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Communication nature-HAL : ComAvecCL&ActesPubliésIntl DOI : 10.3990/2.388 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.3990/2.388 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=91899 Documents numériques

[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Forest stands are the basic units for forest inventory and mapping. Stands are large forested areas (e.g., ≥ 2 ha) of homogeneous tree species composition. The accurate delineation of forest stands is usually performed by visual analysis of human operators on very high resolution (VHR) optical images. This work is highly time consuming and should be automated for scalability purposes. In this paper, a method based on the fusion of airborne laser scanning data (or lidar) and very high resolution multispectral imagery for automatic forest stand delineation and forest land-cover database update is proposed. The multispectral images give access to the tree species whereas 3D lidar point clouds provide geometric information on the trees. Therefore, multi-modal features are computed, both at pixel and object levels. The objects are individual trees extracted from lidar data. A supervised classification is performed at the object level on the computed features in order to coarsely discriminate the existing tree species in the area of interest. The analysis at tree level is particularly relevant since it significantly improves the tree species classification. A probability map is generated through the tree species classification and inserted with the pixel-based features map in an energetical framework. The proposed energy is then minimized using a standard graph-cut method (namely QPBO with α-expansion) in order to produce a segmentation map with a controlled level of details. Comparison with an existing forest land cover database shows that our method provides satisfactory results both in terms of stand labelling and delineation (matching ranges between 94% and 99%). [Termes IGN] reconstruction d'objetRésumé : (auteur) Due to complexity, vegetation analysis and reconstruction of remote sensing data are challenging problems. Using architectural tree models combined with model inputs estimated from aerial image analysis, this paper presents an analysis-synthesis approach for urban vegetation detection, modeling, and reconstruction. Tree species, height, and crown size information are extracted by aerial image analysis. These variables serve for model inversion to retrieve plant age, climatic growth conditions, and competition with neighbors. Functional-structural individual-based tree models are used to reconstruct and visualize virtual trees and their time evolutions realistically in a 3-D viewer rendering the models with geographical coordinates in the reconstructed scene. Our main contributions are: 1) a novel approach for generating plant models in 3-D reconstructed scenes based on the analysis of the geometric properties of the data, and 2) a modeling workflow for the reconstruction and growth simulation of vegetation in urban or natural environments. [Termes IGN] Ventoux, MontRésumé : (auteur) Timely and accurate measurements of forest parameters are critical for ecosystem studies, sustainable forest resources management, monitoring and planning. This paper presents a processing chain for individual tree segmentation over large areas with airborne LiDAR 3D point cloud and very high resolution (VHR) optical imagery. The proposed processing chain consists of forest stand level delineation with optical imagery, individual tree segmentation with Canopy Height Model (CHM) derived from LiDAR point cloud, rough characterization of trees at forest stand level, and point clustering of individual tree with an Adaptive Mean Shift 3D (AMS3D) algorithm. The processing chain is developed with the expectation of supporting operational forest inventory at individual tree level. Experiment is conducted using LiDAR data acquired in Ventoux region, France. Results suggest that the proposed processing chain can be successfully adopted for individual tree characterization over large areas with different forest stands.
