[Termes IGN] mesure de similitudeRésumé : (auteur) A hash algorithm converts data into compact strings. In the multimedia domain, effective hashing is the key to large-scale similarity search in high-dimensional feature space. A limit of existing hashing techniques is that they typically use single features. In order to improve search performance, it is necessary to utilize multiple features. Due to the compactness requirement, concatenation of hash values from different features is not an optimal solution. Thus a fusion process is desired. In this paper, we solve the multiple feature fusion problem by a hash bit selection framework. Given multiple features, we derive an n-bit hash value of improved performance compared with hash values of the same length computed from each individual feature. The framework utilizes a feature-independent hash algorithm to generate a sufficient number of bits from each feature, and selects n bits from the hash bit pool by leveraging pair-wise label information. The metric bit reliability is used for ranking the bits. It is estimated by bit-level hypothesis testing. In addition, we also take into account the dependence among bits. A weighted graph is constructed for refined bit selection, where the bit reliability is used as vertex weights and the mutual information among hash bits is used as edge weights. We demonstrate our framework with LSH. Extensive experiments confirm that our method is effective, and outperforms several state-of-the-art methods. [Termes IGN] réductionRésumé : (auteur) Due to the large diversity of existing feature descriptors in content-based image retrieval, the image contents can be better represented by the joint use of several descriptors in order to explore their potentially complementary characteristics. This paper presents and discusses a strategy for fusion of the different multidimensional features involved, based on inverted multi-indices and dedicated to similarity search. Image descriptors are quantized separately and efficiently through dimension reduction techniques, before being combined in the inverted multi-indices. To exhibit its effectiveness, the proposal is evaluated on two datasets having different contents and sizes, facing several state-of-the-art approaches of image descriptor fusion. The obtained results reconfirm that the joint use of several descriptions improves similarity search, and show that our fusion proposal outperforms other solutions, while manipulating lower or similar volumes of features. [Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Development in techniques of spatial data acquisition enables us to easily record the trajectories of moving objects. Movement of human beings, animals, and birds can be captured by GPS loggers. The obtained data are analyzed by visualization, clustering, and classification to detect patterns frequently or rarely found in trajectories. To extract a wider variety of patterns in analysis, this article proposes a new method for analyzing trajectories on a network space. The method first extracts primary routes as subparts of trajectories. The topological relations among primary routes and trajectories are visualized as both a map and a graph-based diagram. They permit us to understand the spatial and topological relations among the primary routes and trajectories at both global and local scales. The graph-based diagram also permits us to classify trajectories. The representativeness of primary routes is evaluated by two numerical measures. The method is applied to the analysis of daily travel behavior of one of the authors. Technical soundness of the method is discussed as well as empirical findings. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a model-based approach for reconstructing 3D polyhedral building models from aerial images. The proposed approach exploits some geometric and photometric properties resulting from the perspective projection of planar structures. Data are provided by calibrated aerial images. The novelty of the approach lies in its featurelessness and in its use of direct optimization based on image rawbrightness. The proposed framework avoids feature extraction and matching. The 3D polyhedral model is directly estimated by optimizing an objective function that combines an image-based dissimilarity measure and a gradient score over several aerial images. The optimization process is carried out by the Differential Evolution algorithm. The proposed approach is intended to provide more accurate 3D reconstruction than feature-based approaches. Fast 3D model rectification and updating can take advantage of the proposed method. Several results and evaluations of performance from real and synthetic images show the feasibility and robustness of the proposed approach.
