[Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) The quantity of available detailed spatial content over the Web is continually growing. This leads to the problems of information overload and lengthy map download and render times. In order to address these problems in an effective and unobtrusive manner, the available content must be implicitly filtered and prioritized according to the user’s interests. Personalization of the user’s map elides less relevant information and prioritizes relevant information. The authors previously introduced a novel technique for detailed behavior-based spatial profiling. This article provides an analysis of the technique while exploring the properties of user interactions with a typical Web-based map browsing system. A technique for the automatic identification of specific interaction patterns is introduced and explored in a bid to improve current behavior-based map personalization techniques. The goal of this work is to move towards real-time profiling to support spatial dataset personalization, thus improving the user experience by reducing information overload. [Termes IGN] Time-geographyRésumé : (Auteur) Time geography uses space–time volumes to represent the possible locations of a mobile agent over time in a x–y–t space. A volume is a qualitative representation of the fact that the agent is at a particular time ti inside of the volume’s base at ti . Space–time volumes enable qualitative analysis such as potential encounters between agents. In this paper the qualitative statements of time geography will be quantified. For this purpose an agent’s possible locations are modeled from a stochastic perspective. It is shown that probability is not equally distributed in a space–time volume, i.e., a quantitative analysis cannot be based simply on proportions of intersections. The actual probability distribution depends on the degree of a priori knowledge about the agent’s behavior. This paper starts with the standard assumption of time geography (no further knowledge), and develops the appropriate probability distribution by three equivalent approaches. With such a model any analysis of the location of an agent, or relations between the locations of two agents, can be improved in expressiveness as well as accuracy. [Termes IGN] représentation mentale spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) In geography, representations allow an analysis of the way people represent the world, or a part of it, from experienced spaces to those apprehended only through their ideational dimensions. This article analyses the representations of a non-experienced territory scene of a conflict since the middle of the twentieth century: spatial representations of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict viewed from France. This study aims to determinate the collective representation of the conflict by using cognitive maps. This paper proposes an empirical work with cognitive maps thanks to a survey conducted in France, on undergraduates studying geography/history, as they constitute, in theory, introduced people.
