A computer program, written in Algol, is given, which permits inclusion of any zonal term, numerical integration of the Newtonian equation of motion is performed by the Runge-Kutta-Shanks-method, a high-order procedure. A few problems are solved, which are of interest in the determination of the Jn coeffi-cients of the gravitational potential. In the second contribution, the solution of the main problem of satellite mechanics is given in a recursive form. An Algol-program has been added. With it one can determine geocent-ric position and velocity vector with any desired accuracy. The third contribution contains generalized f and g series for solving the Newtonian equation of motion in more compli-cated dynamical problems than Kepler's one. In the last contribution, the motion of an artificial satellite in any axisymmetric gravitational field is given in a recursive form. This is a generalization of the method followed in the second contribution. This approximation is only permitted if the higher harmonic coefficients Jn are small. In order to get an idea of the order of magnitude of the higher coefficients Jn (10 = n = 36) we studied the gravitational field of the earth's model as computed by Uotila. Two questions are mainly considered : 1. the decrease of harmonic coefficients with increasing degree n, 2. the influence of the harmonics for different elevations h out to two megameters. The order of magnitude of the influence of harmonics Vn (n > 36) at different elevations was estimated by replacing the earth's surface by its tangent plane and developing the topography in two dimensional trigonometric series. It is found that the influence of higher harmonics (n>36) is decreasing very fast with increasing elevation and may practically be negligible for h< 0.5 megameters. Further, it is shown that the coefficients Jn (10 =< n =< 36) of the model decrease slowly with increasing degree n; for n > 25 Jn is still of the order of 0.5 10-7. For higher elevations, h>1.5 megameters, the influence of harmonics Jn (n >15) is small. In an appendix some details on spherical harmonics are given which facilitate the comprehension of the numerical work.
