[Termes IGN] reconstruction d'objetRésumé : (auteur) This paper addresses the multi-resolution implementation of a Cox&Roy optimal flow image matching algorithm. This minimization algorithm aims at solving the surface reconstruction problem formalized as a minimization of an energy. This multi-resolution approach is necessary for achieving reasonable processing times on extended areas and improving robustness by restraining matching ambiguities. Some very good results are shown on a 10m ground sample distance (GSD) SPOT5-HRS stereopair. Intermediate results at different steps of the reconstruction process show all the Level Of Details provided by the different pyramid scale levels. The tuning of the regularization parameter is also discussed for different landscapes. [Termes IGN] spécification de produitRésumé : (auteur) Many geographical databases of the same area are produced and maintained. In order to remove inconsistencies between those databases, and in order to facilitate the updating process, a close integration is required. This paper reports the results of experiments of data matching between the networks of two IGN databases at different scales (road, electric, hydrographical, railway and hiking routes networks). We illustrate the main results of these experiments through four different aspects. The first aspect is the identification of data that cannot be matched because they only appear in one database. Some of these differences between the contents of the databases are clearly explained by the specifications: they reflect the difference between points of views. Some other differences are just discovered in the data: they reflect the different sources used to build databases and inconsistencies due to errors. The second aspect is the analysis of differences and inconsistencies between databases when corresponding objects are identified. In particular, we identified differences between attribute values, geometric descriptions, but also topological relationships between objects. A third studied aspect is the degree of automation of the matching process. We managed to automatically match from 90% to 100% of objects in networks, depending of the complexity of the networks. Finally, the fourth considered aspect concern the interactive checking of results. We identified ergonomic difficulty to visualize data and results of matching. We thus propose some solutions to overcome these difficulties. [Termes IGN] zone urbaine denseRésumé : (auteur) This paper describes an algorithm in order to derive DTMs (Digital Terrain Models) from correlation DSMs (Digital Surface Models) and above-ground (buildings and vegetation) masks in dense urban areas. Among all the methods found in literature, the Elastic Grid method shows a good capability to reconstruct the topographic surface. This method consists in interpolating height values under above-ground masks by minimizing an energy. Nevertheless, this method is ill-adapted to outliers in input data (above-ground points out of above-ground masks). The main contribution of our study is the use of a method based on robust statistics in order to reject outliers from calculation so that the nal DTM ts the true topographic surface for the best. For that purpose, the initial Elastic Grid has been noticeably changed. The results of the new method for 2 test sites with a pixel ground size of 20 cm (the rst one is relatively at and the second one is hilly) show the quality of the nal DTM and the robustness of our method. Tests have been carried out with lower resolution DSMs and without any mask and show the feasability of extending the method to a more general context. [Termes IGN] zone urbaine denseRésumé : (auteur) In the context of 3D building model production or updating, the models have to be manually checked one by one by a human operator in order to ensure their quality. In this paper, we investigate a new approach to perform a quality self-diagnosis of building models in dense urban areas from high resolution aerial images. Hence, we aim at reliably identifying roof facets that do not comply with quality specifications. The self-diagnosis process will highlight potential incorrect facets for their inspection by a human operator. A set of calibrated aerial images enable us to collect positive or negative evidences of roof facet existence and consistency. A particular attention has been paid to the definition of a set of low-level, complementary, robust and consistent image processing measures. Four quality classes have been defined and are used to classify roof facet quality. A supervised classifier and robust decision rules are then applied to perform an effective self-diagnosis according to the traffic light paradigm. Finally, the work in progress leads to a promising quantitative and qualitative evaluation in the context of dense urban areas. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Laser scanners are used more and more as instruments for various tasks in cultural heritage conservation. Especially old buildings and archaeological sites are relevant to offer a variety of applications e.g. the surveying of static or simply the visualization and precise modelling for data archiving purposes. The developed IMAGER 5003 is a state-of-the-art, high precision, high speed laser scanner, which provides accurate measurements. The IMAGER 5003 measures range and intensity images at the same time, with a one to one correspondence between these both images with respect to the angles: The range image generates geometric dimensions of the environmental scenes, whereas the reflectance image generates a photographic like impression of the scanned environment which is used for feature extraction, visual inspection, object segmentation, and surface classification. For visualisation tasks the scan data can be combined with colour information: For this purpose either a special high resolution line scan camera developed by the German Aerospace or a standard digital array camera can be used. This paper introduces from a practical point of view into visualization and modelling techniques by using the laser scanner IMAGER 5003. The paper describes features and methods of the system, and shows up two applications in the field of cultural heritage conservation and civil engineering.
