[Termes IGN] variation diurneRésumé : (auteur) Evapotranspiration (ET) controls the flux between the land surface and the atmosphere. Assessing the ET ecosystems remains a key challenge in hydrology. We have found that the ET water mass loss can be directly inferred from continuous gravity measurements: as water evaporates and transpires from terrestrial ecosystems, the mass distribution of water decreases, changing the gravity field.
Using continuous superconducting gravity measurements, we were able to identify daily gravity changes at the level of, or smaller than 10-9 nm.s-2 (or 10-10 g) per day. This corresponds to 1.7 mm of water over an area of 50 ha. The strength of this method is its ability to enable a direct, traceable and continuous monitoring of actual ET for years at the mesoscale with a high accuracy.Numéro de notice : A2016-684 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG LAREG+Ext (2012-mi2018) Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1002/2016GL070534 Date de publication en ligne : 07/10/2016 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/2016GL070534 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=81973

[Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (auteur) In this paper, we revisit the numerical approach to some classical variational inequalities, with monotone and Lipschitz continuous mapping A, by means of a projected reflected gradient-type method. A main feature of the method is that it formally requires only one projection step onto the feasible set and one evaluation of the involved mapping per iteration. Contrary to what was done so far, we establish the convergence of the method in a more general setting that allows us to use varying step-sizes without any requirement of additional projections. A linear convergence rate is obtained, when A is assumed to be strongly monotone. Preliminary numerical experiments are also performed. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) In order to improve the Precise Orbit Determination (POD) of the GPS constellation and the Jason-2 Low Earth Orbiter (LEO), we carry out a simultaneous estimation of GPS satellite orbits along with Jason-2 orbits, using GINS software. Along with GPS station observations, we use Jason-2 GPS, SLR and DORIS observations, over a data span of 6 months (28/05/2011–03/12/2011). We use the Geophysical Data Records-D (GDR-D) orbit estimation standards for the Jason-2 satellite. A GPS-only solution is computed as well, where only the GPS station observations are used. It appears that adding the LEO GPS observations results in an increase of about 0.7% of ambiguities fixed, with respect to the GPS-only solution. The resulting GPS orbits from both solutions are of equivalent quality, agreeing with each other at about 7 mm on Root Mean Square (RMS). Comparisons of the resulting GPS orbits to the International GNSS Service (IGS) final orbits show the same level of agreement for both the GPS-only orbits, at 1.38 cm in RMS, and the GPS + Jason2 orbits at 1.33 cm in RMS. We also compare the resulting Jason-2 orbits with the 3-technique Segment Sol multi-missions d’ALTimétrie, d’orbitographie et de localisation précise (SSALTO) POD products. The orbits show good agreement, with 2.02 cm of orbit differences global RMS, and 0.98 cm of orbit differences RMS on the radial component. [Termes IGN] teneur en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) To investigate whether the spatial and temporal resolution of current operational observing systems in the Western Mediterranean (WMed) region suffice to adequately represent the atmospheric processes responsible for the initiation and intensification of convection, a diagnostic study of the HyMex Intensive Observation Period 8 (IOP8) is performed. During the IOP8, heavy rainfall with intense lightning and consequent devastating flash floods occurred in the WMed region. The synergy of operational networks in the northern WMed, including Global Positioning System (GPS) stations, rain gauges, weather stations, lightning sensors and radiosondes, was used to document in detail the evolution of the heavy precipitation event. In general, the resolution of the aforementioned networks adequately sampled the temporal and spatial variability of the atmospheric water vapour, as well as the position of mesoscale convergence zones which played a key role in the initiation and evolution of convective systems in this case. Nevertheless, high uncertainty was associated with the existence and location of moisture convergence zones and wind convergence lines over the sea, reflecting the need for model analysis and remote‐sensing observations to complete the documentation of the event. Titre : ITRF2014: A new release of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame modeling nonlinear station motions Type de document : Article/Communication Auteurs : Zuheir Altamimi , Auteur ; Paul Rebischung , Auteur ; Laurent Métivier , Auteur ; Xavier Collilieux , Auteur Année de publication : 2016 Article en page(s) : pp 6109 - 6131 Note générale : bibliographie Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : (auteur) For the first time in the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) history, the ITRF2014 is generated with an enhanced modeling of nonlinear station motions, including seasonal (annual and semiannual) signals of station positions and postseismic deformation for sites that were subject to major earthquakes. Using the full observation history of the four space geodetic techniques (very long baseline interferometry (VLBI), satellite laser ranging (SLR), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Doppler orbitography and radiopositioning integrated by satellite (DORIS)), the corresponding international services provided reprocessed time series (weekly from SLR and DORIS, daily from GNSS, and 24 h session‐wise from VLBI) of station positions and daily Earth Orientation Parameters. ITRF2014 is demonstrated to be superior to past ITRF releases, as it precisely models the actual station trajectories leading to a more robust secular frame and site velocities. The ITRF2014 long‐term origin coincides with the Earth system center of mass as sensed by SLR observations collected on the two LAGEOS satellites over the time span between 1993.0 and 2015.0. The estimated accuracy of the ITRF2014 origin, as reflected by the level of agreement with the ITRF2008 (both origins are defined by SLR), is at the level of less than 3 mm at epoch 2010.0 and less than 0.2 mm/yr in time evolution. The ITRF2014 scale is defined by the arithmetic average of the implicit scales of SLR and VLBI solutions as obtained by the stacking of their respective time series. The resulting scale and scale rate differences between the two solutions are 1.37 (±0.10) ppb at epoch 2010.0 and 0.02 (±0.02) ppb/yr. While the postseismic deformation models were estimated using GNSS/GPS data, the resulting parametric models at earthquake colocation sites were applied to the station position time series of the three other techniques, showing a very high level of consistency which enforces more the link between techniques within the ITRF2014 frame. The users should be aware that the postseismic deformation models are part of the ITRF2014 products, unlike the annual and semiannual signals, which were estimated internally with the only purpose of enhancing the velocity field estimation of the secular frame.
