[Termes IGN] instrument de géophysiqueRésumé : (auteur) We propose a new concept of gravity gradiometer, GREMLIT, for the determination of the spatial derivatives of gravitational acceleration during airborne surveys. The core of this instrument is the acceleration gradiometer composed of four ultra-sensitive electrostatic planar accelerometers, inheriting from technologies developed for the GRACE and GOCE satellite gravity missions. Data from these missions have greatly improved our knowledge of the Earth's gravity field and its time variations. However, resolving wavelengths of a few 10 km or less, beyond the reach of the satellite resolution, is of utmost importance to study a number of crustal geophysical processes and geological structures. We first present the benefits for a new gravity gradiometer, then we describe the planar acceleration gradiometer, which put together with three orthogonal gyroscopes, constitutes the gravity gradiometer GREMLIT. The acceleration gradiometer enables measurement at one point of the horizontal spatial derivatives of the acceleration horizontal components. We explain the measurement principle and describe the computation of the gravity gradients along with the necessary ancillary measurements. From a detailed error budget analysis of the accelerometers, an expected spectral sensitivity below $\text{1E/}\sqrt{\text{Hz}}$ is found in the [10−3, 0.2] Hz measurement bandwidth. To maintain such performance in flight, we finally discuss the adaptation of the acceleration gradiometer to the turbulent airborne environment. To limit the saturation of the accelerometers, we propose to cancel the common-mode output of the acceleration gradiometer by integrating the instrument on a double-gimbal platform controlled by the common-mode. We demonstrate on a real case study that with such a solution, it is technically possible to prevent the saturation of the accelerometers at least 95% of the time and it is not damaging to the airborne survey. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) For the first time a high-quality, consistent, global, long-term data set of zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) and precipitable water (PW) is produced from Doppler orbitography radiopositioning integrated by satellite (DORIS) measurements at 81 sites. The data set was screened using a two-level procedure. First, postprocessing information is used to apply range checks and outlier checks to ZTD and formal error estimates. Second, outliers are detected by comparing DORIS ZTD with European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis (ERA-Interim) data. These procedures reject 3% and 1% of the data, respectively. A linear drift is evidenced in the screened DORIS ZTD data compared to ERA-Interim and Global Positioning System (GPS) data, which potentially results from biases introduced by the progressive replacement of Alcatel antennas with Starec antennas. The DORIS PW is homogenized by applying a bias correction computed form comparison with ERA-Interim data each time station equipment is changed. The homogenized DORIS data are in excellent agreement with GPS data (correlation of 0.98 and standard deviation of differences of 1.5 kg m−2) and with ERA-Interim and satellite PW data (correlation > 0.95 and standard deviation of differences Numéro de notice : A2014-667 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG LAREG+Ext (2012-mi2018) Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1002/2013JD021124 Date de publication en ligne : 16/05/2014 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/2013JD021124 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=78464

[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) We propose a new semi-parametric approach to the joint segmentation of multiple series corrupted by a functional part. This problem appears in particular in geodesy where GPS permanent station coordinate series are affected by undocumented artificial abrupt changes and additionally show prominent periodic variations. Detecting and estimating them are crucial, since those series are used to determine averaged reference coordinates in geosciences and to infer small tectonic motions induced by climate change. We propose an iterative procedure based on Dynamic Programming for the segmentation part and Lasso estimators for the functional part. Our Lasso procedure, based on the dictionary approach, allows us to both estimate smooth functions and functions with local irregularity, which permits more flexibility than previous proposed methods. This yields to a better estimation of the bias part and improvements in the segmentation. The performance of our method is assessed using simulated and real data. In particular, we apply our method to data from four GPS stations in Yarragadee, Australia. Our estimation procedure results to be a reliable tool to assess series in terms of change detection and periodic variations estimation giving an interpretable estimation of the functional part of the model in terms of known functions. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) Recent studies show that terrestrial and space-based observations of gravity agree over Europe. In this paper, we compare time-series of terrestrial gravity (including the contribution due to surface displacement) as measured by superconducting gravimeters (SGs), space-based observations from Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and predicted changes in gravity derived from two global hydrological models at 10 SG stations in central Europe. Despite the fact that all observations and models observe a maximum in the same season due to water storage changes, there is little agreement between the SG time-series even when they are separated by distances smaller than the spatial resolution of GRACE. We also demonstrate that GRACE and the SG observations and the water storage models do not display significant correlation at seasonal periods nor at interannual periods. These findings are consistent with the fact that the SGs are sensitive primarily to mass changes in the few hundred metres surrounding the station.
