In this study, we propose to use the well-known K-means clustering algorithm that filters and segments (point cloud) data. The K-means clustering is well adapted to lidar data processing, since different feature attributes can be used depending on the desired classes. Attributes may be geometric or textural when processing only 3D-point cloud but also spectral in case of joint use of optical images and lidar data. The algorithm is based on a fixed neighbourhood size that can deal with steep relief covered by dense vegetation, mountainous area and terrains which present micro-relieves. The novelty of our algorithm consists in providing a hierarchical splitting clustering to extract ground points. The number of cluster splits is used to qualify automatically the classification reliability. This point is rarely treated in previous works. Moreover landscape predictors such as slope map are used to locally refine the classification. Finally, the methodology is extended to a multi-scale framework. The hierarchical clustering is processed from coarse DTM resolution to finer one. This implementation improves the algorithm robustness and ensures reliable ground estimation. Quantitative and qualitative results are presented on the ISPRS data set. [Termes IGN] simulation PleiadesRésumé : (Auteur) We present a 3D building reconstruction method from satellite images based on a stochastic approach. It consists in reconstructing buildings by assembling simple urban structures extracted from a library of 3D parametric models, as a LEGO°R game. Such a method is particularly well adapted to data of average quality such as high resolution satellite images. The approach is based on a density formulation defined within a Bayesian framework. The configuration which maximizes this density is found using a RJMCMC sampler which is efficient w.r.t. the multiple parametric object recognition problem. Experimental results are shown on complex buildings and dense urban areas using PLEIADES simulations. [Termes IGN] point de fuiteRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with the retrieval of vanishing points in uncalibrated images. Many authors did work on that subject in the computer vision field because the vanishing point represents a major information. In our case, starting with this information gives the orientation of the images at the time of the acquisition or the classification of the different directions of parallel lines from an unique view. The goal of this paper is to propose a simple and robust geometry embedded into a larger frame of image work starting with an efficient vanishing point extraction without any prior information about the scene and any knowledge of intrinsic parameters of the optics used. After this fully automatic classification of all segments belonging to the same vanishing point, the error analysis of the vanishing points found gives the covariance matrix on the vanishing point and on the orientation angles of the camera, when using the fact that the 3D directions of lines corresponding to the vanishing points are horizontal or vertical. A validation of estimated parameters with the help of the photo-theodolite has been experimented that demonstrate the interest of the method for real case. The algorithm has been tested on the database of a set of 100 images available on line. [Termes IGN] mesure de la qualitéRésumé : (Auteur) In the past few years, 2D topographic databases have been completed in most industrialised countries. Most efforts in National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) are now devoted to the update of such databases. Because it is generally carried out manually, by visual inspection of orthophotos, the updating process is time-consuming and expensive. The development of semiautomatic systems is thus of high interest for NMCAs. The obvious lack of expertise in the domain has driven EuroSDR to set up a test comparing different change detection approaches. In this paper, we limit the scope of the project to the imagery context. After describing input data, we shortly introduce the approaches of the working groups that have already submitted results. Preliminary results are assessed and a discussion enables to bring out first conclusions and directions.
