[Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) During the past decade, the automatic generation of 3D city models has been a constant topic of research for several universities and cartographic or photogrammetric institutes. These 3D city models have a great potential for many applications, there is a real demand for. The costs of data acquisition are still high. The choice of the input data for a framework is one of the most important key to the production line. The object of this paper is to study the potential and impact of different input data contexts. Therefore, we use an operational building extraction framework able to reconstruct buildings from aerial images and cadastral maps. Concerning the reconstruction modules the buildings can be extracted with fully automatic methods as a prismatic extraction or a model driven algorithm. Although this framework has been initially developed for an aerial image context, laser Digital Surface Model (DSM) and satellite images context has been studied. So, on several datasets, 3D city models are produced through this approach with aerial or satellite images with different resolutions (from 80 cm to 20 cm) or laser scanning DSM. An external 3D reference allows to evaluate from qualitative and quantitative points of view. The results obtained from each input data context are compared. Finally, for each input data context, we discuss the different possibilities of 3D city models specifications, especially for the level of details, geometric accuracy and exhaustiveness.

The automation of reliefs feature extraction is in a transition period and has now to lead the users to practical solutions in their Systems. This corresponds also to the emergence of a great variety of acquisition modes for DTM, and a fast-growing production of elevation data. The scope of this study aims to provide a practical illustration of geomorphometric descriptive parameters extraction. First, on the basis of simple criteria linked to the digital representation of the altitude, for which a hypothesis of modelling by polynomial regional so-called "translated functions" is introduced, the various slopes and curvatures will be represented analytically. From this base, more complex and pertinent criteria for geomorphometric features will be suggested. The survey will provide an analytical foundation for the description of the relief aimed at all those who study relief evolution processes. From the geographer point of view, this approach confirms past evolutionary processes leading to present landscape shapes and explains the role of these shapes in current and ongoing erosion phenomena by using digital data. The analytical geometric analysis provided and the objects recognized help the settlement of environmental database. Therefore, the DTM finds its place as an operationnal cornerstone data in the GIS, dedicated to the standard geo-spatial applications, and joins the tools involved by the resource and environmental monitoring. In this System, the terrestrial photographies are a georeferencing device. We use the images as a verticality measurement device by finding the vertical and horizontal vanishing points of both images of the stereo rig at the same time which improves robustness and accuracy of the estimation. We also use our stereo baseline as a photogrammetric range measurement provided by dene stereo matching. The relative sensor pose estimation between successive acquisitions (t) and (t+dt) of the System can thus be seen as the problem of finding the rigid transformation between the two set of clouds. We achieve this by extracting and matching 3D planes by FFT correlation on corresponding facade orthoimages. The matching of lie points and segments between images at (t) and (t+dt) is due to the reduction of the search space space given by the surface models and the relative pose estimated by our 3D plane matching process. Here we are interesting in surveys mixing image and laser scanning, for metrological applications. Since data need to be registered with the best accuracy, we are faced to a 2D-3D pose estimation problem. In most cases, scenes contain numerous segments, which are good orientation dues. We use these segments to find pose. Therefore, targets are less prevalent for location and orientation estimation purpose. This means less field operations during data acquisition. Since some scenes with very few straight lines can leave insufficient spatial constraints, we reintroduce points. We can deal with feature points to reinforce the System. Then, the algorithm simultaneously minimizes an energy function managing distances between 3D points projection in images and image points, and distances on segments ends. Precise determination of primitives in 2D and 3D data leads to fine orientation. Using subpixelar regression after an edge detection gives high-quality estimates for 2D segments. In point clouds, 3D segments corne from plane intersection. We discuss relative influence of features through uncertainty assessment. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) Even though many efficient building reconstruction methods have been published so far, automatic processes are still missing for the production of 3D city models. This gap between research results and effective production tools seems mainly due to a lack of cooperation between all these methods. Building reconstruction in dense urban areas is such a complex problem that it is hopeless to look for an universal solution that could efficiently reconstruct every building, from a simple gabled roof to a whole cathedral. In this paper we first present a general strategy to combine several automatic and user-assisted processes to produce three-dimensional city models in a real production context using aerial images and 2D ground maps. The strategy aims at taking advantage of each algorithm to be sure they complement each other. Then we illustrate this strategy by describing our operational implementation and its results. In this implementation, the first step is a combination of two automatic algorithms: a model driven and a data driven process. In a second step, user-assisted tools supplement the reconstruction: some are adapted to precise landscape features while others are more generic.
